Flame brush thickness of lean turbulent premixed Bunsen flame and the memory effect on its development

Fuel, 2019
Abstract Flame brush thickness is a significant parameter that demonstrates the evolution of turbulent premixed flame. In this paper, the flame height and flame brush thickness of lean turbulent premixed Bunsen CH4/air and C3H8/air flames were investigated under low turbulence intensities.

Effect of porosity and element thickness on flame quenching for in-line crimped-ribbon flame arresters

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2017
Abstract An experimental system consisting of a pipe with a variable length and diameter and different types of crimped-ribbon flame arresters, was set up to investigate the effect of physical parameters on the flame propagation and quenching processes of propane, ethylene and hydrogen/air mixtures.

Effect of thickness of diffusion-temperature layer on flame height

Combustion, Explosion, and Shock Waves, 1970
1. Periodic variation of the thickness of the diffusion-temperature layer causes periodic oscillations of the flame height. 2. The mechanism of sinusoidal or near-sinusoidal oscillation of the flame height can be explained, at least qualitatively, purely in terms of molecular radial diffusion of oxygen.

Topology and Brush Thickness of Turbulent Premixed V-shaped Flames

Flow, Turbulence and Combustion, 2014
Topology and brush thickness of turbulent premixed V-shaped flames were investigated using Mie scattering and Particle Image Velocimetry techniques. Mean bulk flow velocities of 4.0, 6.2, and 8.3 m/s along with two fuel-air equivalence ratios of 0.6 and 0.7 were tested in the experiments.

Prediction of Laminar Flame Thickness of Ethanol-Air Pre-Mixture

Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers B, 2004
The thickness of laminar flame and preheat zone was computed from equation with burning velocity and the temperature profile, which is obtained by using premix code of Chemkin program for ethanol-air mixture. The computations were carried out under the unburned gas pressure 0.5bar-30bar and temperature of 300k-700K at 1.0.
