A Comparison of Flame Spread Characteristics over Solids in Concurrent Flow Using Two Different Pyrolysis Models

open access: yesJournal of Combustion, 2011
Two solid pyrolysis models are employed in a concurrent-flow flame spread model to compare the flame structure and spreading characteristics. The first is a zeroth-order surface pyrolysis, and the second is a first-order in-depth pyrolysis.

Fluorinated Deep Eutectic Gel Electrolytes with Simultaneously Enhanced Mechanical Strength and Ionic Conductivity for Solid‐State Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synergistic integration of rigid polyacrylamide (PAM) and flexible poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide) (PDMA) phases offers exceptional toughness to suppress lithium dendrites, simultaneously enhancing mechanical strength and ionic conductivity. ABSTRACT Gel polymer electrolytes for lithium‐metal batteries face an inherent trade‐off between mechanical ...

Effects of thermodynamic pressure on laminar spray flame propagation into monodisperse fuel droplet-mists

open access: yesApplications in Energy and Combustion Science
The effects of droplet diameter, overall equivalence ratio (0.8–1.5), and primary evaporation zone length (2–10 mm) on the burning velocity and thermal flame thickness in laminar n-heptane monodisperse spray flames under varying pressures (1.0–2.0 bar ...

Metal Oxide Nano‐Interface Boosting the Deep Ultraviolet Adjustable Noise‐Filtering In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We show that sol‐gel‐fractured indium–magnesium oxide combines deep‐ultraviolet responsivity, high carrier mobility, and an excellent memory dynamic range. This unique materials platform enables deep‐ultraviolet long‐afterglow light‐emitting devices with multifunctional integration.

Numerical Study of an In-line Pre-Heating Treatment along the Axis on the Propagation of a Laminar Premixed Flame in a Channel

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2009
In this study, an in-line pre-heating effect on the propagation of a laminar premixed flame in a two-dimensional channel is investigated numerically. An in-line pre-heating thickness of 1mm is generated by imposing uniform external high-temperature along

Experimental combustion chamber simulation at transient regimes [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The transient regimes in a combustion chamber has to be as short as possible because flame front position and thickness can destroy the combustion chamber in couple seconds. The simulation of such a regime has to be performed unsteady.

Oxyacetylene Flame Forming of Thick Steel Plates

open access: yesApplied Mechanics
One of the most widely used processes in ship hull plate manufacturing is the flame forming process (FFP). In this work, the fabrication of saddle-shaped specimens with FFP using a spiral irradiating pattern is studied experimentally. The deformation of the deformed plates by FFP based on the spiral irradiating pattern is affected by process parameters

Electrolyte Design for Fast‐Charging Lithium‐Based Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A decade of progress in fast‐charging electrolytes for lithium batteries is reviewed. Electrolyte design strategies spanning solvents, salts, additives, and advanced systems, such as localized high‐concentration electrolytes (LHCEs), are summarized. Advanced diagnostic tools for lithium plating and interphase chemistry are discussed, with perspectives ...
