The effects of hydrogen addition on the chemical kinetics of hydrogen-hydrocarbon flames: A computational study

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2020
In this paper, the effects of hydrogen addition on the chemical kinetics of hydrogen–hydrocarbon flames were investigated numerically. Profiles of maximum OH, O and H radical mole fractions, flame temperature and emission levels of hydrogen-methane ...

Emission characteristics of turbulent non-premixed ammonia/air and methane/air swirl flames through a rich-lean combustor under various wall thermal boundary conditions at high pressure

open access: yes, 2019
This study is dedicated to understanding the combustion and emission characteristics of turbulent non-premixed ammonia (NH3)/air and methane (CH4)/air swirl flames in a rich-lean gas turbine − like combustor at high pressure under various wall thermal ...

The role of adipose tissue-derived stromal cells, macrophages and bioscaffolds in cutaneous wound repair

open access: yesBiology Direct
Skin healing is a complex and dynamic physiological process that follows mechanical alteration of the skin barrier. Under normal conditions, this complex process can be divided into at least three continuous and overlapping phases: an inflammatory ...

Manufacturing Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced Printing Filaments: Development of a Post‐Consolidation Unit

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel, temperature‐controlled post‐consolidation unit is developed to test its potential to improve the melt impregnation process used to manufacture continuous fiber‐reinforced filaments for additive manufacturing of high‐performance thermoplastics.

Further Development of Eddy Dissipation Model for Turbulent Non-Premixed Combustion Simulation

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
In view of the application limits of the modified eddy dissipation model (MEDM) in simulations of weakly turbulent flow, compressible flow, and internal flow, an improved eddy dissipation model (IEDM) is proposed.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Effect of Initial Temperature and Pressure on the Explosion Characteristics and Intermediate Reaction Products of Formic Acid Mixtures: A Theoretical Study

open access: yesFire
Formic acid is a promising candidate fuel that can be produced by reacting renewable hydrogen with carbon dioxide. However, the burning safety characteristics of formic acid–air mixtures have not been fully studied.

Flame front geometry in premixed turbulent flames [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium (International) on Combustion, 1992
Experimental and numerical determinations of flame front curvature and orientation in premixed turbulent flames are presented. The experimental data is obtained from planar, cross sectional images of stagnation point flames at a high Damkohler number (80) and turbulent Reynolds number of 60.

Intermolecular Interactions as Driving Force of Increasing Multiphoton Absorption in a Perylene Diimide‐Based Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.
