A Slowly Growing Flank Mass [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, 2015
CASE PRESENTATION A 62-year-old woman presented to her family physician with a twomonth history of a slowly growing left flank mass. She was previously well except for recurrent urinary tract infections; there was no recent travel or trauma. An ultrasound demonstrated a benign-appearing left renal cyst.

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

A Flank Movement in the Understanding of Valuation

open access: yesThe Sociological Review, 2011
The sociological understanding of valuation often starts with an idea of value as something that something has by virtue of how people consider it (that is, it is socially constructed, a convention, a social representation, a projection). At some point, however, analysis also often draws a contrast between this sort of appraisal and some other type of

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Comparison of transcutaneous ultrasound over the right flank with transrectal ultrasonography in the diagnosis of pregnancy in New Zealand dairy herds : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Veterinary Science at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Application of a 3.5 MHz sector transducer over the right flank allows the rapid and clear visualization of bovine pregnancy (ie: fetus, fetal membranes, fetal fluid and/or placentomes).

Case report: Evaluation of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma metastasized to lymph nodes using 18F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography in a dog

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Introduction18F-fluorodeoxy-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) is used with high sensitivity in human medicine for initial staging and treatment planning of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

Cross-scale identification for friction and wear boundaries of tooth flank of high-feed milling cutter

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2022
In the milling process, under the high-efficiency and intermittent cutting loads, the instantaneous posture of the milling cutter and the instantaneous cutter-workpiece engagement are in an unstable state.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.
