Electropermanent Magnetic Muscles: Power‐Efficient, Low‐Voltage, Compact Magnetic Actuators to Power Wearables and Untethered Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents compact, low‐voltage actuators based on electropermanent magnetic interactions. The actuators show good overall performance across key metrics and are implemented in wearable devices and untethered robots. Their ability to operate in different configurations and hold positions without energy input highlights their potential for ...

Long-term follow-up of modified shunt-restricted instep arterialized venous flap for reconstruction of hand defects

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundInstep arterialized venous flaps (iAVF) are suitable for reconstructing soft tissue defects of the hand while concurrently fulfilling aesthetic requirements. However, iAVF still face challenges such as unstable survival rates and swelling. Thus,

Bio‐to‐Robot Transfer of Fish Sensorimotor Dynamics via Interpretable Model

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates how a biologically interpretable model trained on real‐fish muscle activity can accurately predict the motion of a robotic fish. By linking real‐fish sensorimotor dynamics with robotic fish, the work offers a transparent, data‐efficient framework for transferring biological intelligence to bioinspired robotic systems.

Treatment of patients with traumatic hand defects in Krasnodar region

open access: yesИнновационная медицина Кубани, 2019
Traumatic defects of hand tissues require mostly plasty covering with vascularised flaps. There are a great number of various variants with tissue complexes applied for hand reconstruction. In the present study we demonstrate our clinical experience with

Flight-test measurement of the noise reduction of a jet transport delayed flap approach procedure [PDF]

open access: yes
A delayed flap approach procedure was flight tested using the NASA CV-990 airplane to measure and analyze the noise produced beneath the flight path. Three other types of landing approaches were also flight tested to provide a comparison of the noise ...

Adults With Intellectual Disability Moving out of the Family Home Using the National Disability Insurance Scheme: Family Members' Planning Experiences

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT For adults with intellectual disability and their families, future planning and moving out of the family home in Australia will increasingly occur within the context of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). As a market‐based, individualised funding system its impact on this transition remains largely unknown. This paper reports on a

Recent advances in animal models for pathological scar research: A comprehensive review of experimental approaches and translational relevance

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Animal models remain indispensable in the study of pathological scars, each offering unique advantages and constraints. Their integration with in vitro and ex vivo systems is key to developing personalized, clinically translatable antifibrotic therapies. Abstract Pathological scarring, manifested in the form of hypertrophic scars (HTS) and keloid scars
