Research on lift characteristics of flapping-wing miniature aircraft
2020 International Conference on Information Science, Parallel and Distributed Systems (ISPDS), 2020In order to explore the lift mechanism of the flapping-wing miniature aircraft, this paper uses the special wind tunnel of Northwestern Polytechnical University to study the effects of flapping wing frequency, wind speed, angle of attack, and flapping wing camber on its lift characteristics.

Aerodynamic Analysis of Flapping-Wing Propellers for HALE Aircraft
47th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting including The New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2009In a paper presented at the 26 th Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences [1], we proposed to apply the flapping-wing propellers and turbines which we developed for micro air vehicles and hydropower generators to the development of highaltitude long-endurance (HALE) vehicles and flying electric generators.

An active deceleration landing flapping-wing aircraft
Engineering Research ExpressAbstract In recent years, flapping-wing aircrafts have made remarkable progress in hover control, obstacle avoidance navigation, and wing surface contraction through the application of bionics. However, they still lack effective active deceleration and smooth landing capabilities. This paper proposes and designs a bionic flapping-wing

A composite micro aircraft with rotary and flapping wings
Engineering Research ExpressAbstract To reduce size and simplify structure of the micro air aircrafts, a composite micro aircraft with rotary wing and flapping wing is proposed which combines the good maneuverability of flapping wing aircraft with the stable lift performance of rotary wing aircraft.

Morphing Flap Concept to Reduce the Flap Side Edge Noise for Aircraft Wing Slotted Flaps
52nd Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 2014To reduce the aeroacoustic noise of wings with high lift devices, a morphing flap concept has been investigated, which has smoothly contoured flap connected smoothly to the outer main wing. Wind tunnel tests for NACA23012 half span wing model with flexible morphing slotted flap was conducted in Kyushu university 2m x 2m low-noise low-speed wind tunnel,

Development of Stable Automated Cruise Flap for an Aircraft with Adaptive Wing
Journal of Aircraft, 2008Cruise flaps are devices designed to minimize drag, and previous research has explored using a wing-based pressure differential to automate them. Different presentations of the pressure-differential data tend to lead to the development of different types of controllers for automated cruise flaps.

Evolutionary Algorithms to Analyse and Design a Controller for a Flapping Wings Aircraft
2011Evolutionary Algorithms are now mature optimization tools, especially in a multi-objective context. This ability is used here to help explore, analyse and, on this basis, propose a controller for a complex robotics system: a flapping wings aircraft. A multi-objective optimization is performed to find the best parameters of sinusoidal wings kinematics ...

The effect of deflecting flaps on strike/fighter aircraft wing design
The Aeronautical Journal, 1974The designer of a strike/fighter wing must bear in mind the many manoeuvres which the aircraft must perform. It is not sufficient to consider a single altitude cruise design point. Instead one must aim for:(a) An economic altitude cruise, i.e. a moderately high Mach number and lift coefficient without drag rise.(b) A sea level dash capability, i.e.
