An Interpretable Transformer Model for Operational Flare Forecasting

open access: yesProceedings of the International Florida Artificial Intelligence Research Society Conference
Interpretable machine learning tools including LIME (Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations) and ALE (Accumulated Local Effects) are incorporated into a transformer-based deep learning model, named SolarFlareNet, to interpret the predictions ...

Flare Ribbons Observed with G-band and FeI 6302A Filters of the Solar Optical Telescope on Board Hinode

open access: yes, 2007
The Solar Optical Telescope (SOT) on board Hinode satellite observed an X3.4 class flare on 2006 December 13. Typical two-ribbon structure was observed, not only in the chromospheric CaII H line but also in G-band and FeI 6302A line. The high-resolution,

Radiation‐Resistant Aluminum Alloy for Space Missions in the Extreme Environment of the Solar System

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel ultrafine‐grained aluminum crossover alloy exhibits unprecedented radiation resistance and mechanical stability under extreme irradiation doses up to 100 dpa. The exceptional resilience arises from thermodynamically stable T‐phase precipitates, enabling lightweight structural materials for next‐generation spacecraft and extraterrestrial ...

Coronal Behavior Before the Large Flare Onset

open access: yes, 2014
Flares are a major explosive event in our solar system. They are often followed by coronal mass ejection that has a potential to trigger the geomagnetic storms.

Foundation Model‐Enabled Multimodal Deep Learning for Prognostic Prediction in Colorectal Cancer with Incomplete Modalities: A Multi‐Institutional Retrospective Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FLARE, a multimodal AI framework, combines pathology slides, radiology scans, and clinical reports to predict colorectal cancer outcomes, even when some tests are missing. Evaluated retrospectively in 1679 patients from four medical centers, it consistently achieved the best prognostic accuracy and clearly separated high‐ and low‐risk groups.

Gain and Bandwidth Enhancement of 3D-Printed Short Backfire Antennas Using Rim Flaring and Iris Matching

open access: yesSensors
In this article, we present new design techniques to improve the gain and impedance bandwidth of short backfire antennas. For the gain enhancement procedure, our approach was to flare the rim of the antenna, which simultaneously led to an increase in the
