Hypoglycemia Unawareness in Insulinoma Revealed with Flash Glucose Monitoring Systems

open access: yesInternal Medicine, 2018
The delayed diagnosis of insulinoma remains a clinical issue. One of the main causes of such a delay is hypoglycemia unawareness. A 53-year-old woman fell unconscious during postprandial exercises. Flash glucose monitoring (FGM) systems revealed glucose profiles with fasting hypoglycemia, which facilitated the clinical diagnosis of insulinoma even ...

Bioprospecting Ulleungdo‐isolated microalgae for carbon valorization and utilization

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract The growing demand for renewable energy alternatives has intensified global interest in microalgae as versatile bioresources for carbon valorization and bioenergy production. Owing to their rapid growth and biochemical versatility, microalgae provide a sustainable route for converting captured carbon into bioenergy and high‐value products ...

Sterol transporters at membrane contact sites regulate TORC1 and TORC2 signaling. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Membrane contact sites (MCSs) function to facilitate the formation of membrane domains composed of specialized lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. In cells, membrane domains regulate membrane dynamics and biochemical and signaling pathways.

Engineering and Characterization of a Fluorescent Fission Yeast Arp2/3 Complex for Single Molecule Mechanistic Investigations

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arp2/3 complex is a seven‐component protein complex that facilitates the assembly of branched actin filament networks by binding to pre‐existing “mother” actin filaments and initiating the nucleation of new branched “daughter” filaments. Arp2/3 complex must be activated by a nucleation promoting factor such as the WASP/Scar protein family. The

"Sudden Drop" in Blood Pressure is Associated With Recanalization After Thrombolysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We aim to investigate whether the phenomenon of "sudden drop" in blood pressure (BP) within the first 2 hours is associated with vessel recanalization. We retrospectively examined clinical and imaging data from a consecutive series of patients with stroke

Pharmacokinetic Evaluation of a Cinnamon Product on CYP2A6 Substrate Drugs: Application of a Novel Tool Involving the Nicotine Metabolite Ratio

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum spp.) is used as a culinary spice and dietary supplement. A major constituent, cinnamaldehyde, was previously shown to inactivate cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2A6 in vitro. A mechanistic static model predicted an ~5‐fold increase in the AUC of the CYP2A6 substrates nicotine and letrozole.

Caregiver satisfaction with the use of continuous glucose monitoring and flash glucose monitoring in very young children with type 1 diabetes.

open access: yesArchives de pédiatrie
BACKGROUND New technologies for the management of children with type 1 diabete (T1D) are constantly and rapidly evolving. However, few real-life studies have been conducted, and rarely in the youngest patients (

Xylose Acetals ‐ a New Class of Sustainable Solvents and Their Application in Enzymatic Polycondensation

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Novel organic solvents with an unmodified carbohydrate core were synthesised both from D‐xylose and directly from biomass and were successfully used as reaction media for lipase biocatalysts to synthesise aliphatic and aromatic polyesters. Abstract The use of organic solvents in academic research and industry applications is facing increasing ...
