Can Life develop in the expanded habitable zones around Red Giant Stars?
We present some new ideas about the possibility of life developing around sub-giant and red giant stars. Our study concerns the temporal evolution of the habitable zone.

Model based methodology development for energy recovery in ash heat exchange systems [PDF]
Flash tank evaporation combined with a condensing heat exchanger can be used when heat exchange is required between two streams and where at least one of these streams is difficult to handle (in terms of solid particles content, viscosity, pH ...

Nucleosynthesis of Elements in Low to Intermediate Mass Stars through the AGB Phase
We present a review of the main phases of stellar evolution with particular emphasis on the nucleosynthesis and mixing mechanisms in low- and intermediate-mass stars. In addition to explicit studies of the effects of the first, second and third dredge-up,

Thermal properties of fluoride mixtures near the melting point
The thermal diffusivity of LiF-NaF-KF (FLiNaK), NaF-KF and FliNaK-NdF3 mixtures was studied by laser flash method near the melting point. The obtained results demonstrate that the thermal diffusivity of the melts slowly decreases within a certain ...

The treatment of mixing in core helium burning models - I. Implications for asteroseismology
The detection of mixed oscillation modes offers a unique insight into the internal structure of core helium burning (CHeB) stars. The stellar structure during CHeB is very uncertain because the growth of the convective core, and/or the development of a ...

In Situ Study of Resistive Switching in a Nitride‐Based Memristive Device
In situ TEM biasing experiment demonstrates the volatile I‐V characteristic of MIM lamella device. In situ STEM‐EELS Ti L2/L3 ratio maps provide direct evidence of the oxygen vacancies migrations under positive/negative electrical bias, which is critical for revealing the RS mechanism for the MIM lamella device.

Vacuum‐based deposition is promising for perovskite solar cells to be successfully commercialized. However, co‐evaporation, the most common vapor phase deposition technique, suffers from very low deposition rates. In this work, we reveal that high deposition rates can lead to carbon flakes depositing into the perovskite absorber layers due to material ...
