Persistent in vitro nociceptor hyperexcitability and axonal retraction produced by repeated paclitaxel doses

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Repeated paclitaxel exposure causes long‐lasting nociceptor hyperexcitability and axonal retraction in adult sensory neurons. Using a long‐term primary nociceptor culture, we show that hyperexcitability is mediated by sequential upregulation of NaV1.8, TRPV1, TRPA1, and TRPM8 channels.

Conserved dimerization architecture in C‐type lectins from virus‐vector mosquitoes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
C‐type lectins (CTLs) are involved in the detection of viral/microbial carbohydrates. We studied a family of soluble CTLs in the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which acts as a vector for viruses like dengue and Zika. Using crystallography, biophysics, and structure prediction approaches, we found that these proteins consistently pair together in the same ...

Read Aloud Scaffolding for Language and Content Learning With Emergent Bilinguals: Quadrants of Engagement

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the types of scaffolding strategies employed by elementary teachers during read aloud sessions, with a specific focus on emergent bilingual students. Through a multi‐site explanatory case study involving 14 elementary teachers across four districts, we analyzed the frequency and quality of scaffold use, categorizing ...

Hypercapnia Induces Mitochondrial Adaptations and Alters Glutamine Metabolism to Drive a Distinct Metabolic Phenotype in Monocytes

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, EarlyView.
Elevated CO2 (hypercapnia) is a feature of serious lung diseases, for example COPD and contributes to poor patient prognosis through modulation of immune cell function. Here we employ state‐of‐the art metabolomic and isotope tracing approaches to reveal CO2‐dependent mitochondrial alterations linked to suppressed ATP, proline and glutamate levels in ...

Equity–Equality Tensions in Police Social Media Communication With Socially Disadvantaged Neighbourhoods: The Case of Instagram

open access: yesInformation Systems Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study draws on Instagram‐related data to examine how and why the equity and equality principles of fairness govern police communication with socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods on social media. Using the computationally intensive theory construction methodology and drawing on institutional theory and the framework for the interplay of ...

PEBP1 Regulates Ferroptosis in Acute Glaucoma: Targeted Therapy Using Engineered Exosomes. [PDF]

open access: yesFASEB J
General schematic diagram of Spatial and Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Identifies PEBP1 as a Ferroptosis Mediator in Glaucoma: Targeted Intervention by Engineered Stem Cell Exosomes. ABSTRACT Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, primarily driven by the progressive loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) under pathological high

Why Do Helpers Underpredict Positive Reactions After Helping Failures? The Roles of Autonomous Motivation Underestimation and Attentional Bias Toward Failure

open access: yesJournal of Applied Social Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT When well‐intentioned help backfires, do helpers accurately perceive recipients' gratitude? Across five experiments, this research examined whether helpers underestimate recipients' positive reactions when recipients explicitly express gratitude, and investigated the psychological mechanisms underlying this underestimation.

Elevated Nocturnal CO2 and Autonomic Dysfunction in Children With Down Syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Intellectual Disability Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sleep‐disordered breathing (SDB) frequently complicates Down syndrome (DS). Beyond upper airway obstruction, emerging evidence suggests an autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction affecting CO2 regulation. The aim of this study was to investigate nocturnal gas exchanges in children with DS and compare them to what has been ...

Becoming Dostoevsky (how Rowan Williams opens up Bakhtin)

open access: yesModern Theology, EarlyView.
Abstract With the end of Communism in Russia, non‐materialist contexts were enthusiastically restored to Mikhail Bakhtin's globally famous ideas of carnival, dialogism, and polyphony. This essay surveys Rowan Williams's 2008 study Dostoevsky: Language, Faith + Fiction as a major contribution to this effort, concentrating on those general philosophical ...
