Transplantation of Elderly Human Gut Microbiota Into Pigs Reprograms Intestinal Barrier Function, Plasma Metabolome, and Gut Mucosal Transcriptomic Landscape

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
Elderly human donor microbiota disrupts intestinal barrier integrity and reshapes host metabolic and mucosal transcriptional profiles in human microbiota‐associated pigs. Integrated multi‐omics analyses identify coordinated microbial, metabolic, and host alterations associated with age‐related intestinal decline.

Therapeutic Immune Reprogramming by Rapamycin Attenuates Plaque Inflammation and Lymphoid Immune Responses in Aged Atherosclerotic Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
Rapamycin exerts multifaceted immunomodulatory effects in age‐induced atherosclerosis, with pronounced inhibitory effects on adaptive immunity. Rapamycin reduced plaque inflammation and macrophage content, diminished pro‐inflammatory T cell responses, lowered age‐associated B cell frequencies, and attenuated senescence‐associated immune signatures ...

Dispositional optimism and open‐label placebo responses in hair cortisol concentrations and psychological distress—A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesApplied Psychology: Health and Well-Being, Volume 18, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Open‐label placebo (OLP) treatments show beneficial effects on various health‐related outcomes, but studies investigating OLP effects on physiological measures remain scarce. This randomized controlled trial examined the effect of a 4‐week OLP intervention on psychological distress and hair cortisol concentrations (HCC) in 202 healthy ...

Reln Haploinsufficiency Enhances Fentanyl‐Induced Locomotion and Dorsal Striatal Activity Without Affecting Opioid Reinforcement and Relapse‐Like Behavior

open access: yesGenes, Brain and Behavior, Volume 25, Issue 5, October 2026.
Reln haploinsufficiency does not alter fentanyl self‐administration, relapse‐like seeking, or conditioned place preference in mice. Instead, reduced Reln expression selectively enhances acute fentanyl‐induced locomotion and dorsal striatal Fos activation, positioning Reelin as a modulator of opioid‐evoked neuronal activity rather than opioid ...

Transcriptional responses of Aedes aegypti chemosensory tissues in response to volatile DEET and citronella oil

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 35, Issue 5, Page 526-540, October 2026.
Aedes aegypti females were significantly repelled by both volatile DEET and citronella oil in comparison to control (ethanol‐exposed) mosquitoes. Global gene expression changes were largest in the mosquito mouthparts, with notable downregulation of the three subunits comprising the mosquito CO2 receptor (Gr1, 2 and 3).
