Monitoring Depth of Anaesthesia Using Auditory Evoked Potential and Bispectrum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this study, two methods, Auditory Evoked Potential (AEP) and bispectrum, based on EEG signal processing are employed in monitoring depth of anaesthesia. Auditory evoked potential is obtained using wavelet analysis in order to achieve a fast extraction.

Listening to young children with disabilities: Experiences of quality in mainstream primary education

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract All children should have access to quality education through a child‐centred pedagogy. An inclusive, child‐centred pedagogy uses a strength‐based view of children that recognises each child as unique and competent, providing children with multiple opportunities to explore and learn at their own pace.

Generative Artificial Intelligence Performance on University‐Level Human Anatomy Examinations: A Structured Narrative Review and Proposed MATRIX‐Anatomy Framework

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) can perform strongly on written anatomy examinations, but whether such scores represent anatomical competence remains uncertain because results vary with the model, assessment, protocol, modality, scoring, and comparator.

Normative data of Visual Evoked Potential in children and correlation with age

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2015
Background: Visual Evoked Potential is the assessment of the visual pathway and the visual cortex. The present study was descriptive analysis of normal VEP between the age of 6 months to 4 years of age and the determination of the neuronal development ...

Event-related alpha suppression in response to facial motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This article has been made available through the Brunel Open Access Publishing Fund. While biological motion refers to both face and body movements, little is known about the visual perception of facial motion. We therefore examined alpha wave suppression

Differential sensitivity to SHH signaling and neural crest‐mediated Gas1 expression regulate jaw size during development and evolution

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Developmental control of jaw size is crucial to prevent birth defects and facilitate evolutionary adaptation. We have shown that jaw size is established by neural crest mesenchyme (NCM), which are progenitor cells that migrate into the mandibular primordia and produce the jaws.

Increased long distance event-related gamma band connectivity in Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2017
Background: Brain oscillatory responses can be used for non-invasive analyses of cortico-cortical connectivity, local neuronal synchronization, and coherence of oscillations in many neuropsychiatric conditions including Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Cue competition affects temporal dynamics of edge-assignment in human visual cortex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Edge-assignment determines the perception of relative depth across an edge and the shape of the closer side. Many cues determine edge-assignment, but relatively little is known about the neural mechanisms involved in combining these cues.

Reflex seizures and epilepsy surgery: A network approach case‐based exploration

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Context Reflex seizures (RS) are defined by their consistent provocation by specific stimuli, encompassing a broad range from elementary sensory inputs to complex cognitive tasks. While RS are often encountered in clinical practice, their surgical management remains sparsely reported and poorly systematized.

Direct cortical stimulation–evoked symptoms in the human temporal pole: A systematic review

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract The temporal pole represents a key node within temporolimbic networks and may contribute to seizure generation in temporal lobe epilepsy. Direct cortical stimulation (DCS), performed during intracranial presurgical evaluation, is a valuable method for delineating the seizure onset zone by reproducing electro‐clinical features of a patient's ...
