A Facile Strategy to Restore the Optic Nerve Functionality Using an Injectable Conducting Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Science
This study introduces a novel injectable conductive polymer hydrogel from poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT). This hydrogel is designed to facilitate the recovery of electrophysiological function in injured optic nerves.

Angiotensin-(1-7) Provides Potent Long-Term Neurorepair/Neuroregeneration in a Rodent White Matter Stroke Model: Nonarteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (rNAION)

open access: yesCells
Nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) is an ischemic lesion of the anterior optic nerve (ON), currently untreatable due to the length of time from symptom onset until treatment.

Anxiety affects the amplitudes of red and green colorelicited flash visual evoked potentials in humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
It has been reported that negative emotional changes and conditions affect the visual faculties of humans at the neural level. On the other hand, the effects of emotion on color perception in particular, which are based on evoked potentials, are unknown.

Space–time interference in magnitude judgements revealed by drift‐diffusion modelling

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Space and time are strongly interrelated in human cognition: spatial extent can bias temporal judgements, whereas duration can influence perceived spatial extent. However, the mechanisms underlying these reciprocal effects remain debated. We investigated these interactions using psychophysical measures, individual difference analyses and drift‐

Independent component analysis and source analysis of auditory evoked potentials for assessment of cochlear implant users

open access: yes, 2009
Source analysis of the Auditory Evoked Potential (AEP) has been used before to evaluate the maturation of the auditory system in both adult and children; in the same way, this technique could be applied to ongoing EEG recordings, in response to acoustic ...

Cannabigerol reverses mechanical allodynia through α2A‐adrenergic modulation of thalamocortical signaling in chemotherapy‐induced neuropathy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Chemotherapy‐induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a prevalent and treatment‐resistant side effect of platinum‐based chemotherapy, characterised by mechanical allodynia. Cannabigerol (CBG), a non‐psychoactive cannabinoid, has shown antinociceptive potential, but its site and mechanism of action remain unclear.

Do Graph Drawing Aesthetics Matter for AI? A Replication of Foundational Studies in Graph Readability

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Graph drawing aesthetics have traditionally been optimized for human readers, leading to well‐established principles such as reducing edge crossings, enhancing symmetry, and minimizing bends. These criteria shape layout algorithms and define what “readability” means in network visualization.

How Do LLMs See Charts? A Comparative Study on High‐Level Visualization Comprehension in Humans and LLMs

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Designers often create visualizations to achieve specific high‐level analytical or communication goals. These goals require people to extract complex and interconnected data patterns. Prior perceptual studies of visualization effectiveness have focused on low‐level tasks, such as estimating statistical quantities, and have recently explored ...

Devising Embodied Ethnographic Encounters With Young Children: Playful Performances of Puberty and Menstruation

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article details curricular and research methods that privilege young children's voices, movements, and creative choices within performing arts workshops as they devise their own beliefs and understandings of puberty and menstruation. Participants included girl‐identifying children aged 5–12 years, residing in a central Pennsylvania suburb
