Self-noise produced by an airfoil with nonflat plate trailing-edge serrations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper represents the results of an experimental study aimed at reducing the airfoil self-noise by the trailing edge serration of four different sawtooth geometries (defined in the serration angle and length).

Local Heat Transfer Measurements on a Rotating Flat Blade Model with a Single Film Hole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
An experimental study was performed to measure the heat transfer coefficient distributions on a flat blade model under rotating operating conditions. A steady-state thermochromic liquid crystal technique was employed to measure the surface temperature ...

The application of reliability methods in the design of stiffened FRP composite panels for marine vessels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The use of composite laminate materials has increased rapidly in recent years due to their excellent strength to weight ratio and resistance to corrosion.

Design of Flat Spiral Phase Plate on Fiber End Face

open access: yesGuangtongxin yanjiu, 2021
Traditional high-order stepped spiral phase plate that is difficult to fabricate on the fiber end face and easy to damage during the application. In order to solve these issues, a design scheme of flat spiral phase plate fabricated on the fiber end face ...

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Study on Structural Design and Load Transfer Performance of 6-Hole Flat Anchor Plate

open access: yesZhongwai Gonglu
For negative bending moment prestressed tendons in simply supported-to-structurally-continuous bridges, the flat anchorage method of flange plate is more reasonable, but its widespread application is limited due to the anchoring capacity restrictions of ...

Experimental Analysis of Air Inlet Height Variation in a Solar Tower system Using Plate and Metal Foam Absorber

open access: yesمجلة النهرين للعلوم الهندسية, 2022
The experimental analysis is conducted under the Iraqi climate conditions to investigate the performance enhancement of a solar updraft tower system (SUTS) using the porous copper foam as an absorber plate and conventional absorber plate with absorber ...

Flat Bands in Magic-Angle Vibrating Plates [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2020
Twisted bilayer graphene develop quasi-flat bands at specific "magic" interlayer rotation angles through an unconventional mechanism connected to carrier chirality. Quasi-flat bands are responsible for a wealth of exotic, correlated-electron phases in the system.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
