Pitched and Flat Roofs

1999
Both flat and pitched roofs can conveniently be subdivided into two main sections for purposes of measurement, that is, construction and coverings. The order of measurement of these two sections varies in practice, but on balance it is probably better to take the construction first since this follows the order of erection on the site.

LCA comparison of roofing materials for flat roofs

Smart and Sustainable Built Environment, 2015
Purpose– The environmental performance of several flat roof systems with different materials and insulation thicknesses is compared using life cycle assessment (LCA), with the aim to determine the roofing materials with the highest environmental performance.

Unstable Region in the Flat-Roof Resonator

Applied Optics, 1967

Ventilation of Timber Flat Roofs

Batiment International, Building Research and Practice, 1985
Reviewed here is a major co-operative investigation in Denmark into the effect of ventilation of timber flat (cold) roofs to combat condensation and moisture accumulation. Field measurements of moisture content in a number of test roofs over long periods and under different conditions are evaluated and conclusions drawn.

Flat roof construction

Structural Survey, 1988
This paper is predominantly concerned with flat roofs of timber construction with which the author is most familiar. The principles discussed are, however, generally applicable to roofs constructed of other materials.

Ponding of Liquids on Flat Roofs

Journal of the Structural Division, 1969
Expressions are developed for the moments and deflections of simply-supported, prismatic beams subjected to various loading conditions simultaneous with ponding. These can be combined by a form of superposition to solve cases of combined loadings and different support conditions including continuous beams.

Flat-Roof Resonators

Applied Optics, 1965
A microwave or laser resonator with flat-roof mirrors is discussed from a theoretical point of view. When the angle of the roof is extremely small, on the order of 10−3 rad for microwaves or 10−3–10−6 rad for optics, this resonator has some features in common with the confocal resonator.

REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF FLAT ROOFS

Property Management, 1988
The repair and maintenance of flat roofs probably creates one of the greatest headaches for a property manager as well as giving a touch of migraine to the professionals and advisers concerned with flat roofing problems. It was probably 15 years ago when we all became aware of the failings in design, construction and maintenance of flat roofs erected ...
