The analysis of implementation options of transverse joints of bitumen sheets [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
One of the most frequent sources of faults on flat roofs is a violation of the waterproof layers along the transverse joints between bitumen sheets. This fault is caused by a failure to adhere to the technological methodologies.

Hydrogel Thermostat Inspired by Photoprotective Foliage Using Latent and Radiative Heat Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Guided by Populus alba foliage, this hydrogel latent‐radiative thermostat (LRT) actively balances latent and radiative heat fluxes. An LRT switches solar reflectance, maintains high mid‐IR emissivity, and reversibly evaporates/regenerates water, while titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles toughen the film.

Metamaterial Antennas Enhance MRI of the Eye and Occipital Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A radiofrequency antenna platform comprising planar and bend configurations is developed, incorporating structurally integrated epsilon‐negative metamaterial unit cells to enhance MRI. These antennas enable high‐resolution in vivo human MRI of the eye, orbit, and occipital brain. Comprehensive validation, including simulations, phantom experiments, SAR,
