Prestressed Concrete Flat Slabs

1977
A short review on the analysis and the design of prestressed flat slabs is given. Some new aspects concerning flexural behavior, punching, reinforcement arrangement and detailing are presented. Different possible tendon layouts are compared. A new model for slabs with unbonded tendons and additional reinforcement is described.

The Exact Theory of Flat Slabs

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1961
AbstractThe present paper deals with the bending of a flat slab which carries a uniformly distributed load over its entire surface and is supported by rows of equidistant columns with circular sections. In the first place the bending moments in an infinitely extending plate which carries a load at the origin are solved.

Moments in Flat Slabs

Journal of the Structural Division, 1956
Results of study of moments in cast aluminum model of flat slab floor; all panels were square, and columns and capitals were round; model was two bays by three bays and was tested under air pressure with pattern type loading; moments obtained from SR-4 strain gage readings are compared with those obtained by continuous frame analysis following American

The Advanced Theory of Flat Slabs

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1966
AbstractIn a preceding paper the author dealt with the bending moments in a uniformly loaded flat slab supported by columns with circular sections. In this paper the shearing forces in the flat slab, its deflection and the slopes of the deflection surface are expressed by the functions which are deduced from the Theta functions.

Design of Flat Slabs Height

Advanced Materials Research, 2015
Results of latest experiments have revealed that the maximum punching resistance defined from crushing of concrete struts at the perimeter of a column is an insufficient criterion for limitation of maximum shear forces at the vicinity of the columns. Therefore further limitation has been recommended by CEN TC250 SC2 and introduced in STN EN 1992-1-1/NA

Resistance of Flat Slabs with Openings

Solid State Phenomena, 2017
Flat slabs - locally supported slabs are an important and preferred type of modern buildings structures. The column – slab contact point has the concentration of compression but especially shear and tensile stresses which may cause sudden failure – punching of slabs.

Vulnerability of Flat Slab Structures

Structures Congress 2005, 2005
Flat slab structures are widespread all over the world and have a high rate of occupancy. Therefore, an investigation of their vulnerability is an important task because the collapse of such a building can lead to fatal consequences. One of the hazard scenarios which could end in a progressive collapse is column failure.

Flat Slab and Waffle Slab Systems

1994
The effects of column grid size, number of storeys, use of mild/high yield steel reinforcement, location of structural element, grade of concrete and provision of column heads in structural systems on the quantities of various constituents of reinforced concrete construction using flat slabs and waffle slabs have been studied and presented in the form ...

Punching Resistance of Flat Slabs

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016
Results of the latest experiments have revealed that the maximum punching resistance defined from crushing of concrete struts at the perimeter of a column in EC2 is an insufficient criterion for limitation of maximum shear forces at the vicinity of the columns.

A model analysis of flat slabs.

2009
A two-storey 3 bay x 3 bay, 1/12 scale, perspex flat slab model was tested under a one-bay uniformly distributed load, which was applied successively to the various bays. The load was applied using a rubber air bag. The moments induced in the model were measured by electrical resistance type strain gages and the deflections by dial gages.
