Natural Time Analysis of Seismicity within the Mexican Flat Slab before the M7.1 Earthquake on 19 September 2017

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
One of the most important subduction zones in the world is located in the Mexican Pacific Coast, where the Cocos plate inserts beneath the North American plate. One part of it is located in the Mexican Pacific Coast, where the Cocos plate inserts beneath

Analisis Struktur Beton Bertulang dengan Sistem Flat Slab Dilengkapi Drop Panel pada Bangunan Bertingkat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023

Finite element implementation of punching shear behaviors in shear-reinforced flat slabs

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2015
Punching shear reinforcement systems such as studs and stirrups are used to improve the punching shear strength of flat slabs. A three dimensional finite element model (FEM) is developed through Ansys 10 computer software, to carry out the nonlinear ...

Embodied carbon analysis on multi-story building using flat slab and conventional slab system [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
Concrete is a construction material that is responsible for a large portion of carbon emissions from the construction industry due to the use of heavy-duty machines during materials processes, transportation, and concreting.

Infinite slabs and other weird plane symmetric space-times with constant positive density [PDF]

open access: yesGen.Rel.Grav.41:1459-1473,2009, 2007
We present the exact solution of Einstein's equation corresponding to a static and plane symmetric distribution of matter with constant positive density located below $z=0$. This solution depends essentially on two constants: the density $\rho$ and a parameter $\kappa$.

Adjoint models of mantle convection with seismic, plate motion, and stratigraphic constraints: North America since the Late Cretaceous [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We apply adjoint models of mantle convection to North America since the Late Cretaceous. The present-day mantle structure is constrained by seismic tomography and the time-dependent evolution by plate motions and stratigraphic data (paleoshorelines ...

Volatile Cycling and Metasomatism in Flat-Slab Subduction Zones of the Central Andes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Flat-slab subduction, where an oceanic plate subducts horizontally below a continental margin for hundreds of kilometers, is an enigmatic but prevalent tectonic configuration in which chemical cycling and alteration of the continental plate is poorly ...

Shear and Flexural Behavior of Flat Slabs Casted with Polyolefin Fiber-Reinforced Concrete

open access: yesFibers, 2022
This paper presents the influence of polyolefin fiber on the flexural and shear attitude on the flat slabs. Three slab sets (80 cm × 80 cm) were tested, each with a thickness of 10 cm.

The Machine-Learning-Based Prediction of the Punching Shear Capacity of Reinforced Concrete Flat Slabs: An Advanced M5P Model Tree Approach

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Reinforced concrete (RC) flat slabs are widely employed in modern construction, and accurately predicting their load-carrying capacity is crucial for ensuring safety and reliability.

Systematic effects induced by a flat isotropic dielectric slab [PDF]

open access: yesAppl.Opt. 45 (2006) 5168-5184, 2006
The instrumental polarization induced by a flat isotropic dielectric slab in microwave frequencies is faced. We find that, in spite of its isotropic nature, such a dielectric can produce spurious polarization either by transmitting incoming anisotropic diffuse radiation or emitting when it is thermally inhomogeneous.
