Residual‐Lithium‐to‐LiF Conversion Enables a LiF–Fluorinated Carbon Interphase for Reconstruction‐Resistant Ni‐Rich Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fluorine‐rich acrylate monomer (PFHEA) was solvent‐free applied to NCM90 and thermally decomposed under Ar to convert residual lithium into LiF and form a pre‐built LiF/fluorinated amorphous carbon (LiF/FC) interphase. The LiF/FC layer suppresses NiO rock‐salt reconstruction and microcrack propagation, lowers interfacial resistance, and improves Li ...

Dual‐Mode Magnetic Elastomer for On‐Demand Motion and Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐mode magnetic elastomer is introduced, enabling DC field‐driven programmable actuation and AC field‐driven magnetothermal degradation. GHz‐range magnetic fields generate ultrafast heating of magnetic nanoparticles that activates cleavage of the silicone elastomer matrix.

Geodynamic models of short-lived, long-lived and periodic flat slab subduction

open access: yes, 2021
Flat slab subduction has been ascribed to a variety of causes, including subduction of buoyant ridges/plateaus and forced trench retreat. The former, however, has irregular spatial correlations with flat slabs, while the latter has required external ...

Evaluation of Carbon Dioxide Emissions amongst Alternative Slab Systems during the Construction Phase in a Building Project

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Global warming is now considered to be one of the greatest challenges worldwide. International environmental agreements have been developed in response to climate change since the 1970s.

Dual‐Function Interface Engineering for δ‐Phase‐Free Crystallization Toward Efficient and Stable FAPbI3 Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a dual‐function interface engineering strategy using PEACl to suppress the formation of the non‐perovskite δ‐FAPbI3 phase at the critical SnO2 buried interface. This approach enables the direct crystallization of the photoactive α‐phase, yielding highly efficient and stable rigid (25.6%) and flexible perovskite solar cells with ...

A Dual‐Functional Electrolyte Additive for Highly Reversible Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as a dual‐function additive for aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. TBAB disrupts the hydrogen‐bond network of water while TBA+ adsorbs on Zn to improve interfacial wettability and regulate Zn2+ flux, resulting in suppressed dendrite growth and parasitic reactions. This synergy extended the lifespan of Zn|

Slab Gap‐Related Intraplate Magmatism as a Proxy of Maximum Flat Slab Extent in Patagonia

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Establishing the frontal extent of ancient flat subduction events from the geologic record can be challenging. This difficulty arises because magmatic activity in the arc typically ceases during complete slab flattening, and other meaningful proxies are ...
