Punching shear behavior of fiber reinforced polymers reinforced concrete flat slabs: experimental study

open access: yes, 2003
This paper presents the results of a two-phase experimental program investigating the punching shear behavior of fiber reinforced polymer reinforced concrete (FRP RC) flat slabs with and without carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) shear reinforcement.

Column-Slab Connection In Timber Flat Slabs

open access: yes, 2020
With the development of large cross laminated timber (CLT) plates, a new field of possibilities for timber construction has opened. Combined with the invention of a rigid, momentresisting connection between CLT plates, it is possible to create structures like it was so far only achievable with reinforced concrete. The CLT elements can be placed next to

Radiotherapy medical physics in the Philippines: A contemporary overview

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose With cancer ranking as the third leading cause of death in the Philippines and a disparity in healthcare resources across regions, this research aimed to assess the state of radiotherapy medical physics in the country. Methodology The study utilized a comprehensive online survey with 94 structured questions answered by 19 clinics ...

Photo‐Assisted Zn‐Iodine Battery via Bifunctional Cathode with Iodine Host and Solar Response Boost

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bifunctional cathode based on BiOI materials is developed for photo‐assisted Zn‐iodine batteries, serving as both an iodine host and a solar‐responsive material. This design enables dual reaction routes involving vacancy‐based iodine storage and reversible two steps iodine redox.

Effective Width of Floor Systems for Application in Seismic Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Effective width coefficients for floor systems have been developed for use in the analysis of frames subjected to lateral seismic loads. The results cover a wide range of the governing nondimensional parameters, and are applicable to floor slabs with ...

Cubic Polyhedra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A cubic polyhedron is a polyhedral surface whose edges are exactly all the edges of the cubic lattice. Every such polyhedron is a discrete minimal surface, and it appears that many (but not all) of them can be relaxed to smooth minimal surfaces (under an

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.

Topology and Interactions in a Frustrated Slab: Tuning from Weyl Semimetals to C > 1 Fractional Chern Insulators

open access: yes, 2015
We show that, quite generically, a [111] slab of spin-orbit coupled pyrochlore lattice exhibits surface states whose constant energy curves take the shape of Fermi arcs, localized to different surfaces depending on their quasimomentum.

3D Printed Ultra‐Fast Plastic Scintillators Based on Perovskite‐Photocurable Polymer Composite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The demand for radiation detection is increasing in a number of fields, including high‐energy physics, medical imaging, and homeland security. This study serves to demonstrate the potential for the fabrication of fast perovskite‐based scintillators with complex shapes via stereolithographic additive manufacturing, representing a new path toward the ...

An Evaluation of Proposed Mechanisms of Slab Flattening in Central Mexico [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Central Mexico is the site of an enigmatic zone of flat subduction. The general geometry of the subducting slab has been known for some time and is characterized by a horizontal zone bounded on either side by two moderately dipping sections.
