C4 plants are a group of relatively recently evolved angiosperms which are represented in a large number of both monocot and dicot genera (see Hatch 1987, 1992). C4 plants are of agricultural importance not only because they are strongly represented among tropical and subtropical crop species (maize, sorghum, sugarcane, and amaranth, for example, are ...

Enzymatic synthesis of sulphated flavonols in Flaveria
Phytochemistry, 1986Abstract Cell-free extracts of Flaveria bidentis and F. chloraefolia catalysed the transfer of sulphate groups from 3′-phosphoadenosine-5′-phosphosulphate to the hydroxyl groups of a variety of hydroxylated and O -methylated flavonols, but not to flavones or phenylpropanoids. Enzymatic sulphation was more predominant at the 3-hydroxyl group, but

Chemotaxonomic features in Argentinian species of Flaveria (Compositae)
Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1999Abstract The presence of thiophene derivatives in Flaveria bidentis and Flaveria bidentis var. angustifolia has been investigated to expand on the existing chemical information on both taxa. Alpha-terthienyl and 5- (3-buten-1-ynyl)- 2,2′-bithienyl were found in the roots and aerial parts of F. bidentis, whereas in F. bidentis var.

Evidence for the Hybrid Origin of Flaveria latifolia (Compositae)
Brittonia, 1968Investigations of natural populations, cytological studies, and comparisons of herbarium specimens have been used to clarify the taxonomy of the Florida species ofFlaveria. These studies indicate thatF. latifolia is a hybrid betweenF. linearis andF. floridana.

Ombuin 3-sulphate from Flaveria chloraefolia
Phytochemistry, 1988Abstract One novel flavonoid sulphate ester and two known non-sulphated flavonoids were isolated from the leaves of Flaveria chloraefolia . The novel sulphated conjugate is 7,4′-dimethylquercetin (ombuin) 3-sulphate, and the known compounds are 6-methoxyquercetin and its 3-glucoside.

Summary Measurements of photosynthetic gas exchange and its 02-dependence as well as (j13C values in species of the genus Flaveria validate the earlier statement of POWELL (1978) that in this genus both C3 and C4 species exist. Furthermore, gas exchange phenomena indicate that at least two of these species (F. anomala and F.

Inheritance of Carbon Isotope Discrimination in Flaveria
1987The carbon isotope composition of vascular plants is often used as a primary criterion for distingushing between plants with the C3 and C4 pathways of photosynthetic carbon fixation. In general, C3 plants discriminate more against 13C than C4 plants. The carbon isotope composition, expressed on the standard δ 13C scale, of C3 plants is typically -28 o ...

Change in expression levels of NAD kinase-encoding genes in Flaveria species
Journal of Plant Physiology, 2021Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotides (NAD(H)) and NAD phosphates (NADP(H)) are electron carriers involved in redox reactions and metabolic processes in all organisms. NAD kinase (NADK) is the only enzyme that phosphorylates NAD+ into NADP+, using ATP as a phosphate donor.

6-Methoxyflavonol 3-monosulphates from Flaveria chloraefolia
Phytochemistry, 1987Abstract Flaveria chloraefolia leaves contain three novel 3-sulphates of 6-methoxykaempferol, spinacetin and eupalitin, together with the previously identified 3-sulphates of eupatolitin and eupatin. Purification of these compounds was carried out by gel filtration and chromatography of their tetrabutylammonium derivatives on polyamide and ...
