SAR, QSAR and Docking of Anticancer Flavonoids and Variants: A Review [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2013
Flavonoids are phenolic compounds, secondary metabolites of plants that cause several benefits to our health, including helping the treatment against cancer. These pharmacological properties are associated with the ability of flavonoids in attenuating the generation of reactive oxygen species, acting as chelate compounds or affecting the oxi-redox ...

Machine Learning Accelerates Crystallization for Structure Determination

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) is often constrained by the difficulty of obtaining suitable crystals. Here, a machine learning‐accelerated co‐crystal discovery workflow is established for a crystalline mate strategy that achieves over 95% prediction accuracy and experimentally delivers 114 co‐crystals from 120 candidates.

Prunin: An Emerging Anticancer Flavonoid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
Despite the substantial advances in cancer therapies, developing safe and effective treatment methodologies is critical. Natural (plant-derived compounds), such as flavonoids, might be crucial in developing a safe treatment methodology without toxicity toward healthy tissues.

Involvement of the leaf-specific multidrug and toxic compound extrusion (MATE) transporter Nt-JAT2 in vacuolar sequestration of nicotine in Nicotiana tabacum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Alkaloids play a key role in higher plant defense against pathogens and herbivores. Following its biosynthesis in root tissues, nicotine, the major alkaloid of Nicotiana species, is translocated via xylem transport toward the accumulation sites, leaf ...

Redox control of multidrug resistance and Its possible modulation by antioxidants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Clinical efficacy of anticancer chemotherapies is dramatically hampered by multidrug resistance (MDR) dependent on inherited traits, acquired defence against toxins, and adaptive mechanisms mounting in tumours.
