The impact of honey bees on montane ecosystems within Tongariro National Park : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Ecology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A study of the effects of honey bees on montane ecosystems was conducted during the summers of 1993/1994 and 1994/1995 at Tongariro National Park. Three possible effects of the introduced honey bee were examined.

Hygromnemics: Programmable Material Memory Matter Actuators via Wet Pre‐Constraining

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 23, December 3, 2025.
Humidity‐based pre‐constraining creates hygromnemics‐shape memory matter. From identical biocomposites actuation in dry and wet states is obtained via hygromnemic and hygromorphic actuation, respectively. Hygromnemic actuators present long‐ and short‐term shape memory abilities.

Onto greener pastures with rotational grazing of cover crops: Lessons learned from four on‐farm case studies

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Cover crops are touted for improving soil health, reducing nutrient losses to ground and surface waters, and providing soil protection between cash‐crop growing seasons. While they may improve cash crop yield stability and resilience in the long term, cover crops incur seed, planting, termination, and labor costs to farmers while providing ...

Effects of Incremental Dietary Levels of Ground Flaxseed on Milk Production, Ruminal Metabolism, and Enteric Methane Emissions in Organic Dairy Cows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Ground Flaxseed (Linum uitatissimum) is a lipid supplement that is commonly fed to dairy cows. It is believed that supplemental lipid can change the Fatty Acid (FA) composition in the milk, and decrease methane production. Twenty lactating organic Jersey

The impact of residue and cover crop management on soil water and temperature regimes in a loam soil in North Dakota

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract In the Northern Great Plains, the period between small grain harvest and the first killing frost leaves soil vulnerable to erosion, particularly if crop residue is removed or reduced by tillage. Integrating cover crops can reduce erosion risk and improve soil health, but in water‐limited areas, overwintering cover crops may lower soil water ...
