The seasonal activity of flea beetles in Bulgaria [PDF]

Using allyl-isothiocyanate-baited traps, we recorded six species of flea beetles in cabbage and horseradish crops in the region of Sofia, Bulgaria in 2006 and 2007. The most abundant species in the traps was Ph. cruciferae (92–96%) followed by Ph. vittula, Ph. undulata and Ph. nigripes.

Abstract ‘Julian’ sweet potato sprouts were transplanted Jun 6 in 3 ft rows with 12-inch spacing. Treatment plots were replicated 3 times and arranged in a randomized complete block design. Each plot consisted of 5 rows, 25 ft long with a single untreated row adjacent to each treatment plot. The soil type was a sassafras fine sandy loam.

Abstract Canola plots were established at the MSU Hort Farm in Bozeman, MT. Two tests measuring 10 x 30 ft, were planted on 3 Jun. Insecticides were applied on 18 Jun with a CO2-powered backpack sprayer calibrated to deliver 10.5 gal/acre at 20 psi.
