Morphological and molecular data on the bat flies, Basilia silvae (Brèthes, 1913) and Trichobius parasiticus Gervais, 1844 parasitizing Chilean bats

We determined morphological and molecularly two species of bat flies: T. parasiticus (Streblidae), and B. silvae (Nycteribiidae). We generated the first sequences for both species in the country for the cytochrome oxidase subunit I. We do recover monophyletic groups for both species, and we discussed the tree topology.

Bayesian population‐based assessment of ascertainment bias in flea‐borne typhus surveillance in California, 2011–2019

Although flea‐borne typhus is historically associated with poorer living conditions, FBT surveillance reporting is associated with greater socioeconomic advantage at the population level. FBT surveillance may be biased towards socioeconomic advantage in its ascertainment of surveillance data.

Arthropod ectoparasites of synanthropic rodents in northern‐central Italy

The presence of ectoparasites in synanthropic rodents in various Italian provinces was investigated. Eighty‐one Rattus norvegicus, 49 Rattus rattus and 10 Mus musculus were examined Polyplax spinulosa lice, Myobiidae mites, Laelaps echidninus and Notoedres muris were mainly recovered.

Effects of diversified volatile profiles on olfactory orientation of flea beetles Phyllotreta spp. and the diamondback moth Plutella xylostella

Diversifying the crop volatile organic compound profile can alter pest orientation: flea beetles were less attracted to chemical cues of the cabbage–faba bean mix than to those from cabbage alone, while diamondback moths remained equally attracted to both cues.
