A coplanar waveguide‐fed flexible antenna for ultra‐wideband applications

open access: yesInternational journal of RF and microwave computer-aided engineering, 2020
This paper presents a novel ultra‐wideband (UWB) antenna printed on a 70 μm thick flexible substrate. The proposed antenna consists of a hybrid‐shaped patch fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW).

Enhanced Gamma Radiation Shielding Using Epoxy Quartz Fabric Composites Reinforced With CoCl2 Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The growing demand for lightweight, nontoxic, and multifunctional gamma shielding materials has intensified efforts to find alternatives to conventional lead and aluminum‐based protectants. In this work, we develop epoxy quartz fabric composites reinforced with cobalt chloride (CoCl2) microparticles, fabricated via hand lay‐up with varying filler ...

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Tunable and flexible liquid spiral antennas

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2017
A cylindrical spiral liquid antenna and a tapered helical water antenna are presented. Saline water with a concentration of 3.5% is injected into a flexible tube to form the radiation structure. Thresholds for changes of the radiation direction are calculated to be 0.1 and 0.4 for the ratio between the spiral diameter and the wavelength.
