Flexible conformai antennas have wide application possibilities provided that they are small and flexible so that they can be conformally placed on the surfaces associated with the specific applications. Certain applications may also require small size compact antennas operational at relatively low microwave frequencies.

Flexible and wearable antennas
2018in this chapter discusses the planar-inverted F-antenna (PIFA) is used for the wearable application, which reduces the effect of radiation on the human body by reducing the radiated power towards the body. As the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) transmitted power is reduced, the battery life is increased. This performance is achieved due to

A flexible deployable CubeSat antenna
2016 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Applied Electromagnetics (APACE), 2016This paper describes the design procedure of a deployable antenna for Cubesat applications operating in the UHF frequency band of 437 MHz. Due to the expected large size for operation in this band, the meanderline and Vivaldi miniaturization and broadbanding techniques are used to obtain a wider impedance bandwidth.

Flexible antennas for GPS reception
2006 First European Conference on Antennas and Propagation, 2006Flexible antennas for GPS reception have been designed and their performance on two different substrates has been evaluated. Two antenna types, a corner-truncated square patch and a planar inverted F-antenna were studied. Antenna patterns were manufactured using conductive pastes and silk screen printing technique.

Wearable Antennas on Flexible Substrate
2018 2nd URSI Atlantic Radio Science Meeting (AT-RASC), 2018Antenna is still one of the major devices in any wireless application. It has a direct impact on the size, shape and performance of the global wireless system. The physical integration of antennas to devices is a major issue for the designers as they must deal with additional features like safety and regulation constraints. Nowadays, the tendency is to

Flexible Optically Transparent Antennas
2014Communication in today’s world has never been more connected than it is now, much of which is taking place wirelessly. Every device that communicates wirelessly does so by means of an antenna. Devices nowadays, especially cellular devices, often times have multiple antennas for different protocols.

Flexible RFID Tag Antenna Design
2020This research is to design a radio frequency identification (RFID) high sensitivity tag antenna which operates at UHF frequency band (919–923 MHz). The major problem in designing the tag antenna is that it needs to be designed for long-range transmission with a miniaturized size.

Flexible Antenna Design with Characteristic Modes
2020 14th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2020A dual-band flexible antenna on a 3-D printed support is proposed for wrist worn applications. The antenna is aimed to work at 860 MHz and 2.4 GHz. A spatial diversity technique is used to overcome the blocking of the radiation by the arm. Characteristic Mode Analysis is used as a first step of the design process, analyzing different structures.

Flexible printed organic photovoltaic antennas
2016 17th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM), 2016A flower shape flexible organic photovoltaic (OPV) module is designed such that it also operates as a dipole antenna element. It has a dc power efficiency of 5% at 500 lux being suitable for indoor light conditions, which is enough to power a 2.4 GHz ultra-low power radio together with sensors.
