Simultaneous Head and Neck and Lung Cancers: Implications and Therapeutic Management Timing

open access: yesClinical Otolaryngology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study aims to describe the characteristics of patients with simultaneous head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCCs) and lung cancer and to assess the impact of diagnosis‐to‐treatment interval (DTI) and treatment choices on outcomes. Design and Setting A bicentric retrospective observational study conducted between 2003 and

The Diagnostic Challenge of Sharp Foreign Body Aspiration in Children: A Two‐Case Series Highlighting Ingestion vs. Aspiration

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Foreign body aspiration (FBA) is a common pediatric emergency. Sharp objects, such as pins, pose a unique risk of perforation and migration. Differentiating aspiration from ingestion can be challenging when symptoms and radiological findings overlap, particularly for objects lodged in the mediastinum—a “mediastinal dilemma.” We present two ...

Awake ECMO for Mid‐Tracheal Obstruction: When a Tracheostomy Isn't Enough

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Awake VV‐ECMO can be a life‐saving strategy for patients with near‐complete tracheal obstruction where tracheostomy and intubation are not feasible. Early multidisciplinary coordination enables safe airway control, tumor debulking, and stenting, facilitating both immediate stabilization and long‐term oncologic planning.

Bronchoscopic management of a rare benign endobronchial tumor

open access: yesRevista Portuguesa de Pneumologia, 2012
Benign endobronchial tumors are uncommon. Bronchoscopic removal is the preferred modality of treatment although surgery may be required in some cases. Rigid bronchoscopy is usually recommended in the management of these tumors.

Aspiration of superabsorbent polymer beads in a 2‐year‐old Boston terrier

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract This case report describes the first documented instance of a dog aspirating a superabsorbent polymer bead, commonly marketed as Orbeez, and its successful removal. Superabsorbent polymers are widely used in children's toys and decorative products, and they possess the ability to expand significantly in water.

Topical Lidocaine During Airway Manipulation in Pediatric Anesthesia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, Volume 36, Issue 2, Page 151-163, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Lidocaine is widely used in pediatric anesthesia for airway topicalization to modulate undesirable airway and circulatory reflexes, yet its effectiveness remains unclear. Therefore, we aimed to perform a meta‐analysis evaluating the impact of topical lidocaine on respiratory adverse events in children undergoing airway management.

Aptamer‐Engineered Ellipsometry for Clinical Detection of BALF‐Derived Exosomes: Multi‐Level Engineering for Prognostic Evaluation of Immunotherapy Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 3, 14 January 2026.
A novel ellipsometry platform functionalized with truncated PD‐L1 aptamers are developed to enable ultrasensitive detection of BALF‐derived exosomes. Through chemical ligand tailoring, mechanical sensing optimization, and tumor‐proximal fluid sampling, the system precisely stratifies ICI responders and non‐responders, offering superior sensitivity and ...
