A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Characterization of Micro-Holes Drilled Using a UV Femtosecond Laser in Modified Polyimide Flexible Circuit Boards

open access: yesMicromachines
Modified polyimide (MPI) flexible printed circuits (FPCs) are used as chip carrier boards. The quality of the FPC directly affects the reliability of the integrated circuit. Furthermore, micro-holes are critical components of FPCs.

Capital budgeting and flexible manufacturing [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Production Economics, 1994
The lack of measurement and evaluation of flexible manufacturing possibilities seriously handicaps the appraisal and justification of investments in flexible technologies. It is the goal of this paper to formulate a comprehensive definition of manufacturing flexibility which can be explicitly translated into economic and financial variables.

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.
