Design Temperature on Flexible Pavements

Road Materials and Pavement Design, 2000
Simple models for calculating the representative hourly distribution of heavy traffic and asphalt layer temperatures are described.

Flexible Pavement Evaluation and Rehabilitation

Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE, 1977
A method for evaluating a flexible pavement and designing overlays based upon its in-place strength is presented. Strength is determined through a nondestructive dynamic deflection device trade-named Road Rater. Statistical laws are used to determine the characteristic deflection of the pavement, which is then modified to standard conditions.

Flexible Pavement Rehabilitation and Maintenance

1998
Description Current innovative strategies for rehabilitating and sustaining highway facilities. 11 comprehensive, peer-reviewed papers examine the following three areas: Pavement Evaluation -- One paper focuses on a method to estimate pavement serviceability under different pavement roughness and vehicle conditions.

Comparisons of Flexible Pavement Designs

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2006
Flexible pavement designs and performance predictions derived from the empirical 1993 AASHTO pavement design methodology and the mechanistic–empirical NCHRP Project 1–37A approach are compared for a range of locations within the United States, each with its own climate, subgrade, and other material properties and local design preferences.

Fatigue Characteristics of Flexible Pavement

Journal of the Highway Division, 1967
A three-dimensional concept of flexible pavement and asphalt paving mixture designs is presented: stability, durability, and flexural fatigue resistance. Four major factors influencing the flexural fatigue characteristics of flexible pavement and asphalt paving mixtures are analyzed with respect to the major controlling variables.

Perpetual flexible pavement design life

2017
Perpetual asphalt pavements, long-life, deep-strength, and extended-life pavements refer to structures designed for lives long enough to surpass the need for costly maintenance. The design of long lasting pavements is intended to confine pavement distresses to the surface layer which can be replaced or overlaid with a new one relatively easily.

Properties of Flexible Pavement Materials

1983
Description Of great value to the paving engineer, this publication covers a wide range of flexible pavement materials, and their laboratory and field characterization. The themes of the book include: laboratory characterization of soils, aggregates, binders, and additives; characterization of mixes incorporating sulfur and sulfur ...

FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT DESIGN IN ZIMBABWE.

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers, 1982
A recommended design procedure for roads in Zimbabwe is presented. Quantatively it is based on CBR, and qualitatively on Texas triaxial tests. It stresses the importance of both subsoil drainage and the need for timely and adequate maintenance, which enable the relatively thin and cheap designs to perform adequately. The economic implications of design
