Invisible Polymer Walls Enhance Reorientational Optical Nonlinearity in Oligothiophene‐Doped Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polymer wall stabilized dye‐doped liquid crystals (PWLCs) enhance the sensitivity of photoinduced molecular reorientation in dye‐doped LC systems. The PWLC with an invisible polymer wall successfully reduces the threshold intensity and functions as an optical limiter under the incidence of low intensity light laser source.

Template‐Confined Synthesis of Shape‐Engineered Single‐Crystal Gold Microplates in Lithographically‐Defined Polymeric Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐crystal gold microplates are high‐performance nanomaterials with an impressive wafer‐based application space. Progress has, however, been tempered by an inability to exert synthetic control over microplate size, shape, and positioning. In this work, control over these parameters is demonstrated using a seed‐mediated synthesis that both confines ...

Designed Lewis Acid–Base Passivation for High Performance Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silicon's high cost and long energy payback time remain major barriers to the global expansion of solar power. In contrast, metal–halide perovskites offer abundant, solution‐processable absorbers, and have achieved efficiencies of 25%–30%, positioning them as strong competitors to silicon.

Flexible membrane pressure sensor

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2005
Abstract A new flexible low-pressure sensor design with convention architectures of n-type doped hydrogenated amorphous silicon with metal-on-amorphous silicon contacts on flexible substrate is fabricated. The sensing elements are wired according to a full Wheatstone-bridge layout, to reduce any temperature effects.

Fabrication of a Flexible Graphene Pressure Sensor

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2015
The electromechanical properties of single-layer graphene have inspired specific application to force sensors, sinceit is capable of sensing within the range of human pressure perception. In this study, we present a pressure sensor for vertical force that is flexible and transparent by introducing a single graphene layer on a polyethylene naphthalate ...

An MRI-readable wireless flexible pressure sensor

2015 37th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2015
We developed a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) -detectable wireless flexible pressure sensor with pressure-sensitive LC resonator fabricated on a flexible film substrate. Measuring pressures in the body such as blood vessels and cardiac ventricle are very important in making diagnoses and in postoperative observation.

Characterization of a new flexible pressure sensor for body sensor networks

2013 IEEE Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks and Information Processing, 2013
Pressure sensors are generally used in body sensor networks to measure physical forces exerted by our limbs. Popular sensors include the force sensitive resistor and the piezoelectric sensors, both made of rigid semiconductor technology. However, the application of these sensors to human movement monitoring necessitates that these sensors be made ...
