Controlling Dynamical Systems Into Unseen Target States Using Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Parameter‐aware next‐generation reservoir computing enables efficient, data‐driven control of dynamical systems across unseen target states and nonstationary transitions. The approach suppresses transient behavior while navigating system collapse scenarios with minimal training data—over an order of magnitude less than traditional methods.

Dynamic Characteristic Analysis and Experimental Verification of Rotor Systems in Large Synchronous Motors

open access: yesMachines
Large synchronous motors are typically used to drive various load equipment, such as reciprocating compressors. Due to the continuous oscillation of the load, the pulsating torque acting on the main shaft of the synchronous motor will continuously vary ...

Liquid Jetting‐Based Miniature Robotic Navigation in Confined Fluidic Spaces

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
We introduce a new class of liquid‐jetting‐based miniature robots (JetBots) ranging in size from mm‐to‐cm, featuring a unified approach in design, fabrication, and actuation. They demonstrate fast locomotion (30.3 cm/s), rapid steering (648.8°/s), and diverse functions, such as puncturing soft materials and unlimited cargo sampling and delivery, paving

Steady-state unbalance response of a three-disk flexible rotor on flexible, damped supports [PDF]

open access: yes
Experimental data are presented for the unbalance response of a flexible, ball bearing supported rotor to speeds above the third lateral bending critical. Values of squeeze film damping coefficients obtained from measured data are compared to theoretical

Model-based Aeroservoelastic Design and Load Alleviation of Large Wind Turbine Blades

open access: yes, 2014
This paper presents an aeroservoelastic modeling approach for dynamic load alleviation in large wind turbines with trailing-edge aerodynamic surfaces. The tower, potentially on a moving base, and the rotating blades are modeled using geometrically non ...

Impact of Process Interruptions in the Production of Lysates for Cell‐Free Expression Systems

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cell‐free gene expression systems offer cell‐like functionalities outside the confines of the cell, garnering increasing interest for applications from biomanufacturing to sensing. As applications expand, the need to implement economically scaled processes to produce cellular lysates grows.

The Stability of the Steady State and Bistable Response of a Flexible Rotor Supported on Squeeze Film Dampers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The stability of the steady state response, the bistable response, and the jumping characteristics are analyzed for the case when a system accelerates or decelerates through the bistable region of a flexible rotor-centralized squeeze film damper system ...

Supramolecular Host‐Guest Complexation Dynamics by Cost‐Efficient Electronic Structure Methods

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We present a cost‐effective multilevel workflow for the kinetic profiling of host–guest systems, illustrated with cucurbit[6]uril and alkylammonium cations. The method combines rapid docking and reaction path searches at the semi‐empirical level, with refinement of the results using modern density functional theory, accurately reproducing experiment ...

Aeroelastic effects in multi-rotor vehicles with application to a hybrid heavy lift system. Part 1: Formulation of equations of motion [PDF]

open access: yes
This report presents a set of governing coupled differential equations for a model of a hybrid aircraft. The model consists of multiple rotor systems connected by an elastic interconnecting structure, with options to add any combination of or all of the ...
