Microrobotic Catheterization of the Ophthalmic Artery for Targeted Treatment of Retinoblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A microrobotic platform is presented that allows teleoperated and autonomous navigation of flow‐driven magnetic microcatheters, MagFlow, into the ophthalmic artery for superselective intra‐arterial infusion of chemotherapy to treat retinoblastoma. Extensive benchtop validations with patient‐derived biomimetic phantoms under optical and fluoroscopic ...

Maneuverable Multilegged Locomotion through Anisotropically Arranged Soft Backbones in a Single‐Actuator Modular Miniature Robot

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A modular eight‐legged robot exploits anisotropically oriented soft I‐beam backbones to transmit vibration from a single unbalanced‐mass actuator, producing frequency‐dependent multimodal gaits. A pseudo‐rigid‐body model enables high‐fidelity MuJoCo simulation, while Bayesian parameter identification and reinforcement learning yield robust control ...

Hydrogel Embedding of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Supports Extracellular Vesicle Production

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of 3D culture conditions on extracellular vesicle (EV) production by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in a gelatin‐based hydrogel matrix (GelMA). The EVs from both conditions were found to have similar morphological, molecular, and functional properties, but 3D cultures produced more total EVs per volume.

Dynamic Characteristic Analysis and Experimental Verification of Rotor Systems in Large Synchronous Motors

open access: yesMachines
Large synchronous motors are typically used to drive various load equipment, such as reciprocating compressors. Due to the continuous oscillation of the load, the pulsating torque acting on the main shaft of the synchronous motor will continuously vary ...

Supramolecular Host‐Guest Complexation Dynamics by Cost‐Efficient Electronic Structure Methods

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We present a cost‐effective multilevel workflow for the kinetic profiling of host–guest systems, illustrated with cucurbit[6]uril and alkylammonium cations. The method combines rapid docking and reaction path searches at the semi‐empirical level, with refinement of the results using modern density functional theory, accurately reproducing experiment ...

Usage of modal synthesis method with condensation in rotor [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2008
The paper deals with mathematical modelling of vibration and modal analysis of rotors composed of a flexible shaft and several flexible disks. The shaft is modelled as a one dimensional continuum whereon flexible disks modelled as a three dimensional ...

Construction of a CO2‐Fixing Compartment Using a Shape‐Transforming DNA Scaffold

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A shape‐transforming DNA scaffold encapsulates RuBisCO within a controllable, self‐contacting compartment that mimics the carboxysome. The scaffold switches between open and closed states, enabling direct comparison of identical enzyme populations in different microenvironments.

Boric Acid Post‐Modified [Al]ZSM‐5 Zeolites: Properties, Acidity, and Ethanol/Ethene Conversion

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The modification of MFI zeolites with boric acid leads to the formation of framework boron, unstable surface species, and unbound deposits. Relevant BAS for catalysis and access to pores are strongly reduced. The boric acid is removed upon converting C1 or C2 alcohols and ethene. ABSTRACT The effect of boric acid post‐modification on [Al]ZSM‐5 zeolites

Bifurcation Behavior of a Flexible Rotor Supported on Nonlinear Squeeze Film Dampers without Centralized Springs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2000
In this paper, the bifurcation behavior of a flexible rotor supported on nonlinear squeeze film dampers without centralized springs is analyzed numerically by means of rotor trajectories, Poincar maps, bifurcation diagrams and power spectra, based on the
