Bioinspired, Omnidirectional, and Hypersensitive Flexible Strain Sensors

Advanced Materials, 2022
AbstractSensors are widely used in various fields, among which flexible strain sensors that can sense minuscule mechanical signals and are easy to adapt to many irregular surfaces are attractive for structure health monitoring, early detection, and failure prevention in humans, machines, or buildings.

Performance of CNTs/GQD-Based Flexible Strain Sensors

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2020
Nanomaterial-based flexible strain sensors have developed rapidly in recent years. Here, we propose a flexible strain sensor based on polydimethylsiloxane with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene quantum dots (GQDs). Different weight ratios of CNTs and GQDs were used as the sensitive units of the strain sensors.

Flexible platinum nanoparticle strain sensors

2013 Proceedings of the European Solid-State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC), 2013
Using a modified magnetron sputtering technique, platinum nanoparticles having a mean diameter of 4–6 nm have been deposited on flexible polyimide substrates. The polyimide substrates have been previously patterned with gold interdigitated electrodes having an inter-finger distance of 10 μm using conventional photo lithography and the e-gun evaporation

An ultra-flexible temperature-insensitive strain sensor

Journal of Materials Chemistry C, 2023
Using a sensor material consisting of a conductive polymer and Ag nanoparticles, an ultra-flexible temperature-insensitive strain sensor is developed with a minimum bending radius of 0.14 mm and temperature coefficient of resistance of 0.11% K−1.

Flexible Piezoelectric ZnO–Paper Nanocomposite Strain Sensor

Small, 2010
AbstractThe fabrication of a mechanically flexible, piezoelectric nanocomposite material for strain sensing applications is reported. Nanocomposite material consisting of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures embedded in a stable matrix of paper (cellulose fibers) is prepared by a solvothermal method.

Flexible Sputter-Deposited Carbon Strain Sensor

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2013
In this letter, we report a piezoresistive amorphous carbon strain sensor fabricated on a flexible polyimide substrate. Amorphous carbon was sputter-deposited onto a 125-μm-thick polyimide film and the strain gauges were tailored using laser micromachining.

Wafer-scale flexible graphene strain sensors

2013 IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting, 2013
In this paper, wafer-scale flexible strain sensors with high-performance are fabricated in one-step laser scribing. The graphene films could be obtained by direct reducing graphene oxide film in a light-scribe DVD burner. Our graphene strain sensor has the gauge factor (GF) of 0.11. In order to enhance the GF further, the graphene micro-ribbon has been
