Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Investigation of the machinability of (001) single-crystal β-Ga2O3 via tribological methodology

open access: yesNanotechnology and Precision Engineering
Gallium oxide (Ga2O3) is a promising material for next-generation power devices due to its ultrawide bandgap and extremely high critical electric field strength; however, the strong anisotropy and cleavage tendency of Ga2O3 pose significant challenges ...

Flexible Spectral Precoding for OFDM Systems

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
Spectral precoding is a popular approach to reduce out-of-band radiation (OBR) in multicarrier systems in order to avoid adjacent channel interference. However, it introduces distortion in the data, appropriate decoding is required at the receiver side ...

Motion control and vibration suppression of flexible lumped systems via sensorless LQR control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work attempts to achieve motion control along with vibration suppression of flexible systems by developing a sensorless closed loop LQR controller. Vibration suppression is used as a performance index that has to be minimized so that motion control ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Expressing Privacy Preferences in terms of Invasiveness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Dynamic context aware systems need highly flexible privacy protection mechanisms. We describe an extension to an existing RBAC-based mechanism that utilises a dynamic measure of invasiveness to determine whether contextual information should be ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
