Design and manufacture of the composite flexspline of a harmonic drive with adhesive joining

Composite Structures, 1994
Abstract The harmonic drive, which is composed of a circular spline, a wave generator and a flexspline, is a compact, light-weight, and precise torque transmission mechanism with little backlash. From these components, the flexspline is the key element for motion transmission.

Optimization Design of High Stable Flexspline for Harmonic Drive System

2014 Sixth International Conference on Intelligent Human-Machine Systems and Cybernetics, 2014
Harmonic drive (HD) systems benefit from their high transmission ratio and extremely low transmission error, therefore, they are widely applied to robotic and space sciences. High stable HD gains pupolarity in space drive mechanism. Flexspline plays an important role in HD, however, the high stable HD has a special flexspline different from the ...

A method to estimate minimum tooth number for flexspline in harmonic drive

International Journal of Materials and Structural Integrity, 2015
Selection of the tooth number is a challenging problem for engineers in designing harmonic drive, since the tooth number cannot be lower than a certain limit because of the gear strength. However, there is no equation to calculate the minimum tooth number for flexspline.

Adhesive Joining Technology for Manufacturing of the Composite Flexspline for a Harmonic Drive

The Journal of Adhesion, 1996
Abstract A new manufacturing method for the cup-type composite flexsplinc drive was developed using adhesive joining technology to obviate the manufacturing difficulty of the conventional one-piece cup-type steel flexspline and to improve the dynamic characteristics of the flexspline.

A study on stress and vibration analysis of a steel and hybrid flexspline for harmonic drive

Composite Structures, 1999
The conventional speed reducer uses the concept of rigid bodies, but the harmonic drive is operated by the elastic theory. As for this, harmonic drive shows different characteristics in operation principles and analysis compared to the conventional ones. Flexspline with components of harmonic drive can generate repeated vibration by the wave generator.

Impact of Structural Characteristics of Flexspline on the Stresses Occurring at the Tooth Space Bottom

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
The author of the article applied the boundary element method (BEM) to determine stresses occurring in a toothed rim of a flexspline. The relevant numerical calculations were conducted using software developed at the Faculty of Transport of the Silesian University of Technology.
