Assessment of the flexural capacity of corroded steel pipes

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2010
Flexural capacity of corroded pipes can be determined analytically assuming a full plastic failure mode for the pipe. A set of generalized solutions for flexural capacity of the pipe can be developed if the shape of the corrosion is known a priori.

Data-driven prediction of residual flexural capacity in corroded RC beams using PSO and GA-optimized CatBoost ensemble models

Engineering Research Express
Reinforced concrete (RC) beams inevitably experience steel corrosion when exposed to chloride ingress or carbonation, leading to progressive deterioration of both durability and structural capacity.

Flexural capacity of perforated aluminium CHS tubes–An experimental study

, 2020
This paper presents the results of twelve experimental tests on the flexural capacity of perforated aluminium circular hollow section (CHS) tubes; four of which were carried out without perforations.

Flexural capacity prediction of composite RC members strengthened with UHPC based on existing design models

, 2020
Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), a new generation of cementitious materials with very high strength, ductility, and durability, has been used for enhancing reinforced concrete (RC) structures as a strengthening material. The structural performance

Calculation on flexural capacity of recycled aggregate concrete beams

Advances in Structural Engineering, 2023
Based on the constitutive relation of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC, referred to as recycled concrete), from the calculation formulas of the equivalent rectangular block parameters in the compression zone of recycled concrete beams under different recycled coarse aggregate replacement ratios, the calculation formulas of the key ...

Shear capacity of ferrocement plates in flexure

Engineering Structures, 2011
Abstract An experimental study on 18 simply supported ferrocement plates having a span/depth ratio of 2.0 was conducted. Various wire mesh types were used as web reinforcement. Flexural steel was designed to preclude failure in modes other than flexure.

Flexural Capacity of Pressurized Steel Pipe

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1998
This paper describes the experimental and theoretical behavior of two large-scale pressurized pipes tested with a sleeve fully welded to the midspan of each specimen. Each specimen was subjected to an internal pressure, a constant axial load and lateral deformation of a four-point bend test to simulate the flexural behavior of a buried pipeline.

New empirical methods for predicting flexural capacity and stiffness of CFST beam

, 2020
This paper presents new empirical methods to theoretically predict bending moment capacity (Mu) and flexural stiffness values at the initial and serviceability levels (Ki and Ks) of concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) composite beams.

Uncertainly Analysis of Flexural Overstrength for Capacity Design of RC Beams

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2014
AbstractTo ensure an overall ductile structural behavior, the reinforcing steel used in the seismic design of reinforced concrete (RC) structures is governed by certain specific requirements given in many international codes, such as the Eurocodes and the recently released Italian Building Code (IBC).

A Comparison of Existing Analytical Methods to Predict the Flexural Capacity of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Beams

Second International Interactive Symposium on UHPC, 2018
Ultra High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) shows enhanced performance and ductility compared to conventional concrete which can be beneficial in the construction industry. Many researchers have performed experimental studies on the structural behavior of the
