Improving the flexural capacity of extrudable foamed concrete with glass-fiber bi-directional grid reinforcement: An experimental study

open access: yesComposite structures, 2019
A wide experimental campaign of 40 three-point-bending tests on small-scale foamed concrete beams in the low-to-medium density range (400–800 kg/m3) is presented.

Structure‐Guided Dynamical Mechanics in Bioinspired Double Twisted Laminated Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores a dynamic mechanistic study of crack propagation and puncture testing via real‐time monitoring of crack initiation, propagation, and termination through nature‐inspired single and double twisted architectures fabricated from cellulose nanocrystals.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

USE OF U-WRAP TO OVERCOME CONCRETE COVER DELAMINATION IN VARIOUS SIZES OF BEAMS USING STRUT AND TIE MODELLING [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings on Engineering Sciences
Reinforced concrete beams reinforced with Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) have several failure patterns, one of which is Concrete Cover Delamination. To prevent this failure, in this study, FRP U-Wrap was installed which was calculated using Strut and Tie

Flexible Dielectric Acoustic Resonator Patch for Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible dielectric acoustic resonator patch enables MHz‐range ultrasound generation through resonance amplification without using piezoelectric materials. Conformal integration on a curved substrate allows efficient acoustic delivery to tissue‐mimicking environments.

Flexural Strength of Partially Concrete-Filled Steel Tubes Subjected to Lateral Loads by Experimental Testing and Finite Element Modelling

open access: yes, 2023
In this paper, the flexural strength and buckling of the partially concrete-filled steel tubes (PCFST) under laterally repeated loads was investigated through three-point bending test configuration.

Experimental investigations on in-plane and out-of-plane flexural performance of UHPC beams with wet joints

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
Prefabricated bridges have emerged as a significant trend in modern bridge construction. To study the in-plane and out-of-plane flexural performance of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) beams with wet joints, in-plane and out-of-plane specimens with

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.
