Flexural properties of z-pinned laminates

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2007
This paper examines the effect of pinning on the flexural properties, fatigue life and failure mechanisms of carbon/epoxy laminates. Five-harness satin weave carbon/epoxy laminates were reinforced in the through-thickness direction with different volume fractions and sizes of fibrous composite pins.

Flexural Properties of Silorane Bone Cement

ASME 2011 Summer Bioengineering Conference, Parts A and B, 2011
There has been little change in the formulation of bone cements since Sir John Charnley first developed them in the 1970s. Bone cements are methacrylate based systems packaged in two components [1]. The powder component contains a mixture of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), methyl methacrylate-styrene-copolymer, and a radio opacifier (either barium ...

Properties of Reinforced Abrasive Disks in Flexure

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1977
This paper deals with a study of the flexural behavior of thin, fiber-reinforced, resinoid abrasive disks. During use, these disks generally encounter a much higher ratio of flexural or bending stress to rotational stress than do straight grinding wheels.

The tensile and flexural properties of bovine nasal cartilage

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1974
AbstractThe tensile and flexural behaviors of fresh bovine nasal cartilage were measured as a function of strain rate. The following conclusions may be drawn from these studies: (1) Strain rate increases the measured values of tensile and flexural stress and ultimate tensile strength.

Flexural Properties of Polyester Resin Concretes

Journal of Polymer Engineering, 2000
The purpose of this research was to investigate the influence of composition, curing treatment and mixing on the mechanical characteristics of polymer concretes. Polyester concretes with natural aggregates are considered in this research. Polyester concrete samples were subjected to bending tests and results are displayed as a function of composition ...

The flexural properties of end-trabecular beetle elytron plates and their flexural failure mechanism

Journal of Materials Science, 2019
In pursuit of the development of lightweight biomimetic functional–structural materials, this study investigated the flexural properties and failure characteristics of end-trabecular beetle elytron plates (EBEPs) as well as the flexural mechanism and the role of the trabeculae. The results were as follows: (1) The EBEP specimens showed better ductility

Flexural properties of fiber reinforced root canal posts

Dental Materials, 2004
Fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) root canal posts have been introduced to be used instead of metal alloys and ceramics. The aim of this study was to investigate the flexural properties of different types of FRC posts and compare those values with a novel FRC material for dental applications.Seventeen different FRC posts of various brands (Snowpost ...

Flexural strength and flexural fatigue properties of resin-modified glass ionomers.

The Journal of clinical dentistry, 2015
To determine the physical properties of several resin-modified glass ionomers (RMGIs) by means of flexural strength and flexural fatigue testing, and to compare them to conventional glass ionomer cements (GICs) and flowable composite resins.RMGI samples were fabricated according to ISO 4049 standard.

Relating tensile properties with flexural properties in SHCC

2010
Strain hardening cementitious composites (SHCCs) have seen increasing field applications in past decade, yet existing quality control test methods for tensile properties are sometime difficult to implement. This paper presents a new simple inverse method for quality control of tensile strain capacity by conducting beam flexural test.
