Hydrodynamic Forces on a Submerged Horizontal Circular Cylinder in Uniform Finite Depth Ice Covered Water

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2020
Hydrodynamic forces on a submerged cylinder in uniform finite depth ice-covered water is formulated by using the method of multipoles, the ice-cover being modelled as an elastic plate of very small thickness.

Substructural Identification of Flexural Rigidity for Beam-Like Structures

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2015
This study proposes a novel substructural identification method based on the Bernoulli-Euler beam theory with a single variable optimization scheme to estimate the flexural rigidity of a beam-like structure such as a bridge deck, which is one of the ...

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Study on the Method for Calculating the Flexural Rigidity of Reinforced Concrete Truss Hollow Composite Slabs

open access: yesBuildings
A static performance experimental study was conducted on six simply supported reinforced concrete truss hollow composite slabs to analyze their flexural rigidity. The study investigated the effects of the slab thickness, the dimensions of the hollow thin-

Influence of the Modulus of Elasticity of CFRPs on the Compressive Behavior of Confined Test Pieces and on the Flexural Behavior of Short Concrete Beams

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
In this study, we compare the behavior of confined compression-tested concrete test pieces and short concrete beams subjected to three-point flexural strength testing when they are reinforced with high-modulus, high-strength carbon fibers reinforced ...

3D‐Printed Giant Magnetoresistive (GMR) Sensors Based on Self Compliant Springs

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores 3D‐printed GMR sensors utilizing self‐compliant spring structures and conductive PLA composites. By optimizing arm width, we achieved high piezoresistive (0.34%/mm) and magnetoresistive (0.77%/mT) sensitivities. Demonstrated through Bluetooth‐integrated pressure and magnetic position sensing, these full printed low‐cost, customizable

Finite difference method–based calculation of gravity deformation curve for the large-span beam of heavy-duty vertical lathe

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2016
To solve the problem that gravity deformation curve of large-span cast-iron beam analyzed by finite element method simulation is inaccurate due to material imperfection, a discretization calculation considering the inhomogeneity of the material based on ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
