Volume 6: 1st Biennial International Conference on Dynamics for Design; 14th International Conference on Advanced Vehicle Technologies, 2012 Flexure hinges inherently lose stiffness in supporting directions when deflected. In this paper a method is presented for optimizing the geometry of flexure hinges, while supporting stiffnesses are retained. These hinges are subjected to a load and deflected an angle of up to ±20°.

, 2013 Two flexure hinge types are optimized for high support stiffness and high first unwanted eigenfrequency for two different working ranges, ±5.7° and ±20°. We show how multiple performance specifications lead to different designs with different performance.
