Assessment of the effect on the human body of the flicker of OLED displays of smartphones

open access: yesJournal of Information Display, 2021
This paper considers the effects on the human body of the flicker of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. Related studies have been conducted due to reports of cases of adverse health effects of the use of artificial lighting.

On Level-Raising Congruences

open access: yes, 2008
A work of Sorensen is rewritten here to include nontrivial types at the infinite places. This extends results of K. Ribet and R. Taylor on level-raising for algebraic modular forms on D^{\times}, where D is a definite quaternion algebra over a totally ...

On the Trial Production of the Equipment Measuring ManySubjects' Critical Flicker Fusion Frequency at the Same Time [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
The equipment measuring the critical flicker fusion frequency (CFF) is made in order to measure many subjects' CFF at the same time. This equipment is defined the multi-flicker. The equipment measuring CFF, used until now is defined the mono-flicker.

Evaluation of a novel EHR sidecar application to display RA clinical outcomes during clinic visits: results of a stepped‐wedge cluster randomized pragmatic trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective We developed a novel EHR sidecar application to visualize key rheumatoid arthritis (RA) outcomes, including disease activity, physical function, and pain, via a patient‐facing graphical interface designed for use during outpatient visits (“RA PRO dashboard”).

FLICKER

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babeș-Bolyai Philologia, 2019
Flicker. Theodore Roszak’s sophisticated and extreme long novel Flicker, published in 1991, resonates in many ways with the masterpieces of the cryptographic thriller tradition, like Umberto Eco’s Il nome della rosa (1980) or Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code (2003). Its core lies in the conspiracy theories, due a fictional plot driven from the deep shadows of

Evaluation of Critical Flicker-Fusion Frequency Measurement Methods for the Investigation of Visual Temporal Resolution

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Recent studies highlight the importance of the temporal domain in visual processing. Critical Flicker-Fusion Frequency (CFF), the frequency at which a flickering light is perceived as continuous, is widely used for evaluating visual temporal processing ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Low-Power Driving Waveform Design for Improving the Display Effect of Electrophoretic Electronic Paper

open access: yesMicromachines
To address the high power consumption associated with image refresh operations in EPDs, this paper proposes a low-power driving waveform that reduces the refresh power of EPDs by lowering the system’s peak power.
