Flicker fusion and translucent irides

Visual Impairment Research, 2002
In the normal visual system, the critical flicker fusion frequency (CFF) has a higher value when tested with a large stimulus field than with a small stimulus field. When the iris is translucent, a significant part of the stimulus light also stimulates peripheral parts of the visual field.

Critical flicker fusion test of potential vision

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2007
To continue developing a potential vision test based on the critical flicker fusion (CFF) phenomenon by using a brighter stimulus and optimizing its size.Flinders Eye Centre, Flinders Medical Centre, Flinders University, Bedford Park, South Australia, Australia. In a prospective nonrandomized study, 225 participants were assigned to 1 of 4 groups ...

Foveal Flicker Fusion Using a Moving Stimulus

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1965
The relationship between stimulus velocity and the critical-flicker-fusion frequency (CFF) of an intermittent visual stimulus was investigated by modulating the sweep-speed and intensity of an oscilloscope beam. When Ss fixated upon a stationary point, CFF showed an approximately linear increase as a function of velocity.

Flicker Fusion Thresholds and Mental Arousal

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Investigated the finding of Busch and Wachholder that flicker fusion thresholds increase under conditions of mental activity and decrease during inactivity. Flicker fusion thresholds for each eye of 21 undergraduates were measured after 2-min. rests, then after the performance of a mathematical counting exercise, and then after another 2-min.

Flicker Fusion in Pericoecal Area

1981
The pericoecal area is known to be the site of some early defects of the visual field. Flicker fusion frequencies, on turn, have been reported to be often altered when more classical Perimetric examination results are still unchanged. This work is intended to report ‘normal’ values for flicker fusion frequencies in this area based on the examination of

Flicker Fusion and Spatial Summation

1981
Flicker fusion frequencies in the central and paracentral retina were studied for liminar and supraliminar stimulations with targets of different size. Statistical analysis of the results obtained in a relatively large series of patients allows a good standardization of ‘normal’ values for healthy people.
