The impact of SPARC on age-related cardiac dysfunction and fibrosis in Drosophila [PDF]
Tissue fibrosis, an accumulation of extracellular matrix proteins such as collagen, accompanies cardiac ageing in humans and this is linked to an increased risk of cardiac failure.

The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Digital Actuation Control of Soft Robotic Origami With Self‐Folding Liquid Crystal Elastomer Hinges
Self‐folding soft‐rigid hybrid robotic origami is enabled by liquid crystal elastomer actuators with embedded Joule heating and closed‐loop digital control. Digitally addressable hinges provide reversible and programmable transitions between distinct folded states while maintaining actuation performance at high cycle counts (over 1500).

Bio‐Inspired Multimodal Hardware Front‐End Enabled by 2D Floating‐Gate Memory for UAV Perception
A MoS2/h‐BN /graphene floating‐gate memory underpins a bio‐inspired multimodal front end that integrates visual, inertial, and airflow cues. A 4 × 4 FG memory array encodes temporal intensity differences, while IMU‐ and airflow‐driven threshold modulation suppresses self‐motion artifacts, enabling fast, low‐power, robust autonomous UAV tracking and ...

In the present contribution we compared the entomological succession pattern of a burned carcass with that of an unburned one. For that, we used domestic pig carcasses and focused on Calliphoridae, Muscidae and Sarcophagidae flies, because they are the ...

Habitat and seasonal effects on blowfly ecology in possum carcasses in the Manawatu : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment for the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Ecology at Massey University [PDF]
Flies were trapped on Keeble farm and in Keeble forest reserve between May 1992 to February 1993. Fewer Calliphoridae were trapped in pasture during summer than in autumn or winter and different fly species showed differing preferences for bush or ...

New Prey Families for \u3ci\u3eCrabro Advena\u3c/i\u3e (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae) [PDF]
Three new prey families of adult Diptera are presented for Crabro advena, bringing to 14 the total number of fly families captured by this euryphagous wasp.

Butterfly wing scales are intricate cuticular functional nanosctructures. This perspective suggests that spatially varying material properties, cytoskeletal constraints, and growth‐driven mechanical instabilities shape the resulting nanoscale architectures created from single cells.
