We compared the flight activity of Xyleborus glabratus Eichhoff, vector and symbiont of the causal agent of laurel wilt disease (Raffaelea lauricola), with a native species Monarthrum mali (Fitch) using flight mills. Flight mills were operated either for 24 h or for three 3-h time intervals.

Caste-Specific Changes in Honeybee Flight Capacity
Physiological Zoology, 1986Physiological correlates of the ontogenetic transition from generally nonflying hive bees to foragers were described. Peak foraging activity of workers occurred between 15 and 32 days of age in six honeybee colonies, depending on season. Whole wet body mass decreased ~40% in correlation with the transition to foraging behavior.

Simulation modelling of runway capacity for flight training airports
The Aeronautical Journal, 2014AbstractThis study aims to develop a practical discrete-event simulation model to analyse the single runway capacity of airports serving training flights under various operational scenarios. The number of operations per hour, average airborne and ground delays, queue lengths and runway utilisation are selected as performance measures for the analysis ...

[Flight capacity and facultative migration of cotton bollworm].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2002The flight capacity of moth cotton bollworm was studied by hanging flight installation. According to the flight rhythm and time, the individuals of population could be differentiated into long, medium, and short flight type. Laboratory stuies on the effect of temperature and food on pre-reproductive period, fecundity and life-span showed that the pre ...

[Ways to study the work capacity of pilots in flight].
Kosmicheskaia biologiia i aviakosmicheskaia meditsina, 1978On the basis of a careful study of the Soviet and foreign literature, informativeness of physiological, biochemical, psychometric, biomechanical methods used to measure pilot performance inflight is evaluated. It is suggested that such performance can be assessed via a systemic approach and with the aid of the following parameters: functional state as ...

Flight management computer (FMC) navigation database capacity
2012 Integrated Communications, Navigation and Surveillance Conference, 2012Navigation database (NDB) capacity (memory size) has always been an issue in aircraft Flight Management Computers (FMC). And, that issue is a concern for Performance-based Navigation (PBN) Implementation as so many new next generation (NextGen) procedures are being developed and many FMCs no longer have the capacity for additions to their NDBs. For the

The capacity of insect flight muscle for the intracellular transport of phospholipids.
Physiologia Bohemoslovaca, 1982The postmitochondrial supernatant of the homogenate of metathoracic musculature of Periplaneta americana was found to mediate the transfer of labelled phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylinositol from the rat liver microsomal fraction to unlabelled rat liver mitochondria at 25 degrees C; no transfer occurred at 0 degrees C.
