Flight Data Recording Systems

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1970
SOME ten years ago, the regulatory authorities in the United States prepared legislation enforcing the carriage of flight data recorders on commercial passenger‐carrying aircraft above 12,500 lb. all‐up weight. Since that time other countries have introduced similar regulations.

Wireless Flight Data Recorder (FDR) for Airplanes

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
This paper is on the urgent need of today’s Aviation Sector which comes smart materials in airplanes. We have made wireless system i.e. a real time Flight Data Recorder (FDR) in which the data(Parameters like Engine Temperature ,Fuel Level, Speed ,Location (Latitude And Longitude)etc.

Virtual Flight Data Recorder for Commercial Aircraft

Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 1998
This paper presents preliminary results of the development of a virtual flight data recorder (VFDR) for commercial airliners. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, currently being revised, mandate the recording of 11 dynamic parameters, not including the control surface deflections.

Underwater Recovery of Flight Data Recorders

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1970
RECORDS of aircraft accidents taken over the ten year period ending December 1969, indicate that outside of communist countries, 79 aircraft of all types, have crashed into water with the loss of 2,097 lives. Up to the present time in 1970, a further six accidents have occurred over water with the loss of 206 lives.

Evaluation of a General Aviation Flight Data Recorder

AIAA Modeling and Simulation Technologies Conference and Exhibit, 2007
Flight data recorders are not required for general aviation aircraft that carry less than ten passengers. Following an accident, there may be little or no recorded information with which to determine the cause. Conventional recorders must tap into aircraft systems, making the cost prohibitive for general aviation.

Calculation of aircraft’s aerodynamic loads using flight data records

WUT Journal of Transportation Engineering, 2020
From the point of view of assessing the aircraft in the field of flight mechanics interesting are loads acting on it. The ability to plan and then coordinate the use of engine thrust and control surfaces to make appropriate changes to aircraft’s thrust, drag, lift and weight are key factors in assessing its performance. The balance between these forces

Flight Path Reconstruction and Wind Estimation Using Flight Test Data from Crash Data Recorder (CDR)

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2014
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper presents the implementation of flight path reconstruction (FPR) and wind estimation techniques applied to a high performance fighter aircraft. The analysis is carried out for the flight test data gathered and stored in a Crash Data Recorder (CDR).

Anomaly detection in flight recorder data: A dynamic data-driven approach

2013 American Control Conference, 2013
This paper presents a method of feature extraction in the context of aviation data analysis. The underlying algorithm utilizes a feature extraction algorithm called symbolic dynamic filtering (SDF) that was recently published. In SDF, time-series data are partitioned for generating symbol sequences that, in turn, construct probabilistic finite state ...
