Microcomputer-Based Monitoring and Data Acquisition System for a Mosquito Flight Mill

The combination of a microcomputer and a mosquito flight mill system, containing up to 16 flight mills, is described. The microcomputer provides CRT screen monitoring, log reports, and summary reports. Each log report contains the distance (meters) and duration (seconds) of each flight by each mosquito.

Autographa nigrisigna (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is the target species of the mating disruptant for vegetables, Confuser V. However, emergence of A. nigrisigna does not decrease in the Confuser V treated vegetable fields. As one of the reasons for this phenomenon, migration of mated females into the Confuser V treated area were considered.
