Minor epic: Notes toward a different “Anthropoetry”

open access: yesAnthropology and Humanism, Volume 51, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract Anthropologists have often turned to poetry as a means of accessing emotional registers of which conventional academic prose is unable to avail. In doing so, they have tacitly conflated poetry with lyric poetry, today probably the most widely practiced poetic genre, associated in particular with the expression of inner feelings and subjectival

Transmission coefficients of a floating rectangular breakwater with porous side plates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2016
The interaction between incident waves and a floating rectangular breakwater with the vertical porous side plates has been investigated in the context of the two-dimensional linear potential theory.

Formula to Predict Transmission for π-Type Floating Breakwaters [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 2013
AbstractThe aim of this paper is to define a simple and useful formula to predict wave transmission for a common type of floating breakwater (FB), supplied with two lateral vertical plates protruding downward, named π-type FB. Eight different models, with mass varying from 16 to 76 kg, anchored with chains, have been tested in the wave flume of the ...

Vegetal Infrastructure: Rwanda's Eucalyptus Boom and the Material Politics of Tree Planting as a ‘Nature‐Based Solution’

open access: yesThe Geographical Journal, Volume 192, Issue 2, June 2026.
Short Abstract This article analyses the political ecology of Rwanda's eucalyptus boom, situating it as a site of tension within a global push towards ‘nature‐based solutions’. It develops the concept of vegetal infrastructure, demonstrating how certain tree species become legible to global environmental governance while making local social ...

Biogeomorphic Feedbacks Triggered by Mangrove Degradation at the Seaward Margin Accelerate Persistent Vegetation Decline

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Seaward mangrove edge exhibited significant retreat after extreme disturbances. Rhizophora stylosa exhibited impaired regeneration and root damage in heavily disturbed areas, trait variation primarily responded to elevation and sediment properties, vegetation loss triggered subsidence, creating a positive biogeomorphic feedback loop.

Floating breakwater performance

open access: yes, 1984
Floating breakwaters provide an alternative form of wave barrier to conventional rubble mound and caisson breakwaters in low to moderate wave climates with relatively short wave periods. This report reviews the literature on floating breakwaters and discusses existing and potential uses of floating breakwaters in Australia.

Narrative Horizons: Deliberate Derangement in Oceanic Climate Fiction

open access: yesFuture Humanities, Volume 4, Issue 1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Although we live in the Anthropocene—the geological age of humankind, wherein humans have measurably impacted the biosphere—we struggle to narrate the Anthropocene. In particular, we struggle to give narrative shape to its foremost feature: anthropogenic climate change.
