FARMLAND PRESERVATION PROGRAMS [PDF]

open access: yes
Paper presented at the Seventh International Symposium on Society and Resource Management, University of Missouri, Columbia, May 25-27, 1998. The preservation of farmland is an important issue in most areas of the U.S.

Isomeric Ag14 Nanoclusters With Distinct Photophysical and Nanomechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ligand‐shell isomerism in atomically precise Ag14 nanoclusters is demonstrated to regulate core distortion, photoluminescence, and mechanical properties. Subtle changes in phosphine ligand arrangement drive a pronounced emission shift from green to red and alter crystal rigidity, revealing a direct structure‐property correlation that offers new design ...

Setting the Standard for Farmland Preservation: Do Preservation Criteria Motivate Citizen Support for Farmland Preservation? [PDF]

open access: yes
The multifunctional set of services provided by farmland complicates the task of identifying which farmland should be preserved. For this reason many states and local governments establish criteria to rank and select parcels of farmland for protection ...

Miro1 Protects Against Acute Kidney Injury Through Modulating Mitochondrial Homeostasis via Interaction With Sirt6

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ischemia‐reperfusion reduces Sirt6 activity, thereby increasing Miro1 acetylation. Hyperacetylated Miro1 exhibits perinuclear distribution and degradation, thereby inducing mitochondrial dysfunction and promoting apoptosis in renal tubular epithelial cells. This pathway reveals a mechanistic link between Sirt6‐mediated deacetylation and Miro1 stability

South Dakota Farmland Leasing 2003 [PDF]

open access: yes
Nearly 40% of South Dakota agricultural land is operated under a leasing agreement. Presented in this report are recent and longer term trends in land tenure, ownership, and leasing, based on Census of Agriculture data and related materials.

A Novel Pak1 Activator Ameliorates ER Stress for HFpEF Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic metabolic stress is a major contributor to HFpEF progression. Under prolonged metabolic stress, Pak1 activity becomes impaired, contributing to disrupted ER proteostasis, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, fibrosis, and diastolic dysfunction. Mechanistically, Pak1 overexpression activates the ERK1/2–MNK1–eIF4E signaling axis, promotes translational ...

Urban Sprawl and Farmland Prices [PDF]

open access: yes
A theoretical model of farmland valuation is developed that allows urban sprawl to affect farmland values through the conversion of farmland to urban uses, shifts in production to higher-valued crops, and the speculative effect of urban pressure on ...

A Rare De Novo Missense Mutation in IFT122 Confers a Genetic Susceptibility Factor of Idiopathic Pediatric Uveitis Via Trio‐based Whole‐Exome Sequencing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rare de novo IFT122‐A773E variant is identified in idiopathic pediatric uveitis and shown to exacerbate retinal inflammation and barrier dysfunction. Mechanistically, the variant enhances IFT43 interaction, elevates calcium signaling, and activates the MEK/ERK/FRA1 axis, revealing a previously unrecognized cilia‐associated pathway that may increase ...

TED1 Promotes the Assembly of SCFD3‐D14‐D53 to Reinforce Strigolactone Signaling in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies TED1 as a positive regulator of strigolactones (SL) signaling in rice. The ted1 mutants display dwarfism and increased tillering with significantly reduced SLs sensitivity. Through its longer C‐terminal region, TED1 interacts with D53 and D14 to promote the assembly of SCFD3‐D14‐D53, thereby facilitating the efficient ...

Targeting CXCR2 in Nociceptive Sensory Neurons Offers Novel Therapeutic Potentials for Postoperative Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tissue incision induces CXCL5 release, which activates neuronal CXCR2 on incision‐innervating sensory neurons. Neuronal CXCR2 couples with TRPA1 to drive mechanical pain and engages p38 MAPK signaling to upregulate TRPV1 and promote heat pain. Targeted Cxcr2 knockdown relieves incisional pain while preserving CXCR2‐dependent neutrophil responses ...
