Overview of the marine litter status in the Atlantic Area: beach, floating and seabed litter
CleanAtlantic is an INTERREG Atlantic Area Programme project that aimed at protecting biodiversity and ecosystem services in the Atlantic Area by improving capabilities to monitor, prevent and remove (macro) marine litter. Besides, the project also contributed to raise awareness and change attitudes among stakeholders and to improve marine litter ...

Numerical analysis of transport and accumulation of floating marine litter in the Black Sea.
Floating marine litter (FML) is a global problem because of the risk it poses to marine life and human health. In a semi-enclosed basin such as the Black Sea, the slow replenishment of water and the strong input from European rivers potentially favoured the increasing accumulation of FML. In this sense, it is absolutely necessary to generate strategies

MIS12 Is Required for Kinetochore‐Microtubule Attachment in Oocyte Meiosis
A model depicting the role of MIS12 in K‐MT attachment during oocyte meiosis. The presence of MIS12 stabilizes bipolar K‐MT attachments by maintaining the function of NDC80 and its interaction with TUBB. This, in turn, promotes KNL1 assembly and subsequent SAC protein recruitment to kinetochores.

The KIF6‐RBP Complex Orchestrates mRNA Transport Required for Sperm Flagellar Assembly
Two homozygous deleterious KIF6 variants are identified in unrelated men with impaired sperm motility. Mouse models and multi‐omics analyses reveal that KIF6 cooperates with the RNA‐binding proteins FMRP and FXR1 to deliver mRNAs essential for sperm flagellar assembly, linking disrupted mRNA transport to reduced abundance of key structural and ...

Targeting Plastics: Machine Learning Applied to Litter Detection in Aerial Multispectral Images
The occurrence of litter in natural areas is nowadays one of the major environmental challenges. The uncontrolled dumping of solid waste in nature not only threatens wildlife on land and in water, but also constitutes a serious threat to human health ...

High Tree Species Diversity Promotes Thermal Enhancement Response of Microbial Carbon Use Efficiency
ABSTRACT Predicting soil carbon dynamics under warming is constrained by limited understanding of microbial thermal adaptation, particularly whether microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE) can adapt to warming and how plant diversity modulates this response. Using soils from a natural tree species diversity gradient in a subtropical forest, we combined a

Monsoonal influence on floating marine litter pathways in the Bay of Bengal
Abstract. Marine litter in the Bay of Bengal has been under-studied despite large quantities of mismanaged waste reportedly entering the ocean from its surrounding countries. The seasonal reversal of monsoon currents in this region provides a unique environment for the transport of floating macro-litter.

A paternal glucocorticoid–sperm Gnas‐ICR axis is linked to ovarian endocrine programming in female offspring. Paternal preconception caffeine exposure elevates corticosterone, promotes sperm Gnas‐ICR hypermethylation, and is associated with ovarian Gnas upregulation, cAMP/PKA/CREB–StAR activation, enhanced estradiol synthesis, and PPP‐like phenotypes ...
